Homebrew DS Online with Wiimmfi

I’m trying to connect Mario Kart DS with Wiimmfi in the rom on my fully homebrewed 3ds. (I use TwilightMenu) But when I try to setup my DS WiFi and select my internet it asks me for a WEP key. I’ve researched it and people say the WEP key is the internet password but it’s saying my internet password is wrong. It says it isn’t valid and to visit NintendoWiFi.com which doesn’t exist anymore. Is there a specific code somewhere I have to find through my internet settings? any help would be appreciated.

Oh yea, forgot the DS uses WEP for Internet, not WPA2. Yea.. you're gonna need to setup a WEP network on your router or use a hotspot.

And since WEP is so easy to crack I would only use it on a guest network that's isolated from the rest of the network, and disable it when not in use. And enable MAC address filtering although it's easy to bypass, at least it adds a little bit of security.

The only solution I had was to set up a dedicated router with a WEP access point and a ton of restrictions on it so that not only would a hacker need to go through a lot more headaches beyond just cracking the key, but in the end the AP is locked in to only communicate with wiimmfi's servers and has a pretty low speed cap so that it's just not worth the hassle for a potential attacker.

Duh, that's why I asked. Because I care (and many other people using Wimmfi too). I literally asked how I can make it work for myself what does this have to do with what anyone else plays, why would I give a crap who plays what games, get a life and stop being so triggered because I want to play Mario Kart DS Online, oh no I'm such a terrible person

I think that if you play DS games on a 3DS then it actually allows you to connect to newer and safer standards like WPA2.
WEP is old, insecure and should be avoided.

@JustKeepWalking99 I wasn't talking about you. I was talking to @Searinox, because who random fellow would hack into a mini WEP network that only one device is connected to?

It actually doesn't let me, in DS Connections it never shows up and immediately when I try to search for networks it says what I'm trying to connect to is incompatible (it probably goes off my main 3ds internet connection initially and sees if it would work with my DS but it doesn't). Even when I manually enter settings and stuff, it doesn't work, I don't think there's anything I can do, I might buy a DS Wifi Connector that I heard about online but it's really not worth that much money. I've heard websites say I can set up my internet settings to make my WPA2 internet a WEP but it didn't work out it resets back to WPA2. Thanks for trying to help, but i don't know if there's anything I can do at all.

When you say you're changing your Internet settings, do you mean you're changing something in Windows, or something in your router's configuration page? (Are you familiar with how to configure your router?)

My old Cisco router works fine in WEP mode, so if all else fails I don't think you need to buy a fancy DS Wifi Connector.

Well, I just went to my internet preferences and I switched it from WPA-2 to WEP and it disconnected my computer from the internet but then a few minutes later it just came back with all its WPA-2 settings, I could probably have tried a few more things but I really thought I'd screw up something with my internet and make it unusable.

This is not clear. If you are looking at a Windows control panel, then you are probably only configuring how your computer should connect to your router. (And since your router is configured for WPA-2, Windows is probably automatically re-configuring itself to stay connected to your router when you try to change your Internet settings.)

You need to configure how your router connects to your computer (and everything else). My router uses web-based configuration, so a special page comes up in my web browser if I go to http://192.168.1.1 ; I used to have an old, cheap router that I couldn't configure at all except by calling IT support at my ISP. I don't know what router you have, so I can only suggest you read your router's documentation.

There are benefits to hijacking networks other than gaining access to devices on the compromised networks.

That's not how you configure a router. You need to access its gateway through a web browser. You can find the gateway address by opening a CMD window and running "ipconfig". You should also know that changing the network's security type is going to require you to reconfigure every device in your home to use WEP. As mentioned above, if your router has a "guest mode", or is a dual-band router, you should either dedicate guest mode or the 2.4GHz band to use WEP, and prevent the SSID from broadcasting. Honestly, though, a much easier solution would be to use an Android device as a hotspot. This would save a lot of headaches.
