Hi guys, sorry if this is a question that's been asked/answered before, I searched for a while in different forums but didnt find any thing similar to my question (it is kinda niche)

There are lots of really cool SM64 romhacks that I find interesting and want to play, and I also like to use VC injection when I can. All of ones I've tried (Star Revenge 8.5, Last Impact, the newly released SM64 Land) have resulted in just black screens

My question is: is there a commonly known reason and/solution for this (i.e. using a different base or ini)? Or is it a case-by-case thing as to why a certain romhack might not work? Now if I cant get them to work via injection, then I could try an emulator, but before I try that I'm just curious what is known about injecting romhacks and getting them to work.

If they're by Kaze Emuar (Or however you spell that) there's a 99% chance that it won't work.
Oh? Is it because of the custom assembly? If so, that's unfortunate. I thought his stuff might work on a VC inject because he usually goes out of his way to have his romhacks be playable on console using an Everdrive or something similar

Not saying that applies here necessarily, just thought it was interesting

I know often times the romhacks have to be tailor-made to be injectable for the Wii U, like some romhacks that Skelux have made that now seem to be unavailable on his site. I have no idea why they need that. For romhacks you normally have to use the n64 emulator for Wii running which you can run with a speed boost from the Wii U cpu.

Oh so I can use the vWii n64 emulator and still get Wii U speeds?

Intersting that it has to be tailor made, but that basically answers my question, I appreciate that. Guess I'll give using the N64 emulator a try

Quick question, are there ways to forward to vWii homebrew apps using the Wii U menu (kinda like how Nintendont does it)?

As a matter of fact, to make use of the Wii U's clock speed in the homebrew apps that have been updated to accept it (PS1 emulator and N64 emus) you HAVE to inject them using tecmoon's wii u injector together with a wii u homebrew app that'll force the wii u cpu clocks on the injected program you want. So you'll have to run this app, which I think was called caffiine, before running the n64 emulator. There are guides on the site for how to do this.

You're welcome, though don't go expecting that every romhack will work. I only ever tried the 2 player Mario 64 mod some time ago, which worked quite well. I remember having some issues with configuring controllers though I don't remember exactly why.
