Titles do make a difference in terms of interest but none of it matters if the said hacked console has stopped getting newer games.
The Switch exclusive Nintendo games might not interest you, but its getting Ps3/vita ports constantly now. My 5.50 ps4 pro is getting updated once FF7R is out
thats where my waiting ends, tho i still have another ps4 on 5.05 to mess around with.

So switch is better than ps4 because ps4 can only play old ps4 games while switch can play old ps3/vita games?

Surely an argument for a ps3 or vita.

ps5 will get an update eventually.

If I wanted to play PS2 games I would rather do it on PC for superior compatibility and less glitches. If you are talking about retro emulation the Switch can achieve that aswell even PSP/PS1 games. The only difference is that the Switch can be hacked up to the latest firm based on your model and have newer titles under your belt. Graphically the PS4 is way better if you don't have a PC on the side.

As the title says, no i am not a sony agent lmao, but i am torn, between buying a new switch or a new ps4 pro, price doesn't matter, but content does, i love ps4 games, but the part where i can't play those games is what hurts, and before you jump out and say "if price doesn't matter why not buy games", because it costs a fortune to buy a 60$ game for 300$ on retail, and i have a shmirkl internet speed to buy on the store and download. any insights from your beautiful minds ? what did you do when you were in my position ?
Buy both? - PS4 Pro 5.05 (Currently has 2TB HDD.) I have put in to storage. My stock PS4 Pro sits there, in all fairness is never used, will be when TLOU2 comes out.. But if you can get your hands on a hackable switch. You'll have the best of both. Online with genuine games (sysnand) and set offline with your custom NSP's/XCIs (emunand and always to be kept offline).

I didn't mention PS2. I personally have a PS2 next to my PS3 and PS4, for superior compatibility and less glitches :-)

I know what the switch gives you, I struggle to like nintendo games. I mainly like driving and tomb raider style games, I bought the PS4 and vita to finish off the unchartered series.

Graphically the PS4 is way better if you don't have a PC on the side.

I have a laptop that is more powerful on paper, but for some reason it doesn't appeal.

I quite like psvr as well.

Thats fine a multiplat user like myself can't convince someone who only focuses on the need of a single console. Im just explaining the variety of milk & cookies thats out there. Playing Old Ps4 games isn't going to last your interest very long sadly to say. Especially when most of the said titles can be played on PC cracked/or paid with newer updates and DLC. You aren't going to play the new Tomb Raider on 5.05, if you only care about a few exclusives its certainly not worth the hassle in buying a hacked/hackable ps4 pro which are usually expensive. Get the cheapest ps4 you can find and just buy the games *used*

Mate I've got 4 ps3s hen and cfw
And series one fat cech with ee chip on cfw.
Ps3 games are all even older now anyway
I have vita on enso cfw but vita games suck and the home brew is not exactly amazing

I have 3 ps4 on 5.05 and two on latest firmware for playing online

Even with Linux on ps4 you cant run ps3 emu properly
What ps3 can you run on switch?

Ask MasterJ360, he said "The Switch exclusive Nintendo games might not interest you, but its getting Ps3/vita ports constantly now."

I don't really understand your post.

You aren't going to play the new Tomb Raider on 5.05, if you only care about a few exclusives its certainly not worth the hassle in buying a hacked/hackable ps4 pro which are usually expensive. Get the cheapest ps4 you can find and just buy the games *used*

I bought a ps4 pro cheap before the 5.05 exploit, the version it came with wasn't exploitable at the time. Once a new exploit is out then I'll upgrade.

I'm not really interested in games either, so I don't think your advice is good for me. It depends on what people want, if you buy a PS4 you aren't getting into a vibrant scene.

Nope newer games can't be run on 5.05, so you need an unit with higher firmware if you want to play newer games.

And there is no way to trick the games into running on a lower firmware like with the Switch?

Edit: Also an up to date PS4 hack guide should be a sticky thread.

Short answer: no.

You should understand how the DRM was defeated. At current time, there's no known way to decrypt PS4 titles other than let the console mount/decrypt them, dump, repackage and sign them with a "fake" key. This could only be done with full control of the console, aka "root" privileges.

Now, if you or one of your friends would find a way to decrypt a PS4 title externally — that means on your PC, it would entice prying cryptographic keys from a recent enough FW and other boring details — and said title was developed with an SDK not higher than FW 5.05, then you would be able to run it on jailbreaked consoles. It was demonstrated an year ago (or more) by a Russian group/individual when a fake signed package of "Horizon: Zero Dawn" for FW 4.50 started floating on warez boards, where it required FW 5.05.

Well, for what is known, they didn't defeated titles encryption, they probably had an head start with the exploit for FW 5.05, in fact a few weeks later it was public released.

No, the kernel exploit only work on specific firmware , you can't trick the system to allow you to run games that require 5.50+ on a lower firmware system, there is a guide already on PS4 exploit, the one KiiWii linked above.

Funny how Nintendo made the Switch to be as unhackable as possible yet you can run recent games on a hacked Switch while you can't on a hacked PS4.

Sony care a lot more about their system's security than Nintendo that why they are always patching previous firmware exploit. Sony did sue someone selling a 5.05 PS4 with backup.

The PSP updates... well some even made the console even more hackable. While the Vita was better about it... well... it did happen a few times.

Early on the PS3 was very easy to hack, more so the older models.

There are places were is hard to find an unhacked PS2. But that's kinda justified nowadays.

And I never saw an unchipped Playstation were I live, save for the PS1 model.

And let's not forget

Well going back on your previous post, For the switch, Switch Lite and the Mariko Unit cannot be exploited yet, as long they can find an entry point they can run CFW on it, similar for the PS4, the kernel exploit is just entry point that allows you to gain access to the debug menu. Exploits for higher firmware do exist but Developer doesn't want to release them yet. Keep in mind Sony does care more about their system security a lot more than Nintendo, or they wouldn't have bothered to sue Geohotz for hacking the PS3, Last year Sony sued someone in the US for selling a 5.05 PS4 with backup.
