Hello, I guess call me Lalouch. I haven't been an active member of a message board in years, but there was a thread that warranted my registering to hopefully help answer a question a little more clearly (though to be honest, not quite as clear as I'd hoped).

I'm writing this bit of intro after completing what is quite possibly the most comprehensive message board introduction ever written. I have, in retrospect, lived a rather exciting life with opportunities to do and see things a lot of people dream of. The irony is I didn't really realize the significance of the moments at the time. Since this is so long, I decided to add in bold little titles that summarize the following content, so that if your have no interest in that scenario/topic you can skip ahead. Here we go!

My love of video games, and how my parents ideas of good time affected my change in taste in genres

I enjoy Video Games, preferably in the JRPG, Puzzle, Fighting, Survival Horror and side scrolling (mega man, sonic, etc) genres. I was obsessed with Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 when i was a little kid, but due to my seemingly unhealthy predilection toward my NES and early arcade visits suggested to my military father that I probably shouldn't own any other games (aside from Mario/Duck Hunt) or game systems. Our trips to the arcade also ended. This resulted in me learning how to be social so i could befriend anybody who had the almost mythical SNES, Genesis, Saturn, etc. I was great at whatever game I played, but then I moved away to live with my (now divorced) father, and gaming was rare. My mother's mother, however, asked me one holiday season to give her a list consisting of literally everything I wanted. This included a Playstation- dual shock controllers had just made their appearance. It turned out that she had found out she had terminal cancer and that this would be her last Christmas, so she got my brother and I every single thing on our lists whether our parents approved or not. I got really into Survival Horror and fighting games kinda fell to the side, even more so when I discovered Final Fantasy VII. I have since been up to date with the various iterations of Playstation, owning at one point a gamecube and an Xbox 360 during another- both purchased for 1 specific title each. Anyway, now I'm back into fighting games, but I'm terrible, I get my ass kicked within second when I try playing online. However if anyone plays Guilty Gear Xrd rev 2, Street Fighter V, or Mortal Kombat 11 on PS4 and want to play with me, maybe help train me, send me a message with your PSN name and I'll add you.

How what was becoming a legitimate, well paid music career became my unstable source of income

I also semi-professionally work as an Audio engineer and music producer, and somewhat obviously am also a musician. I write/produce all kinds of music some of which include- post-rock, progressive house, sorta trip-hop, and I sell rap beats to rappers. I'll post some links to different projects if people are interested. I lived in LA in 2009-2011 and spent a lot of time going to both underground raves and clubs that were hosting world class progressive house dj's. Aside from Radiohead and Roger Waters, I've always had the insane luck of meeting any band/performer I went to see and usually getting along with them well enough to be invited to party with or spend rather long stretches of time talking about music, making it, and our preferences regarding software/hardware/techniques. This allowed me to not just meet famous people, but their opening acts, which helped me get good paying gigs where I got to DJ music I made. One track I made with a friend has actually been played by Above & Beyond as well as a few other people associated with their label Anjuna beats. Please understand I'm not bragging, but it was a big part of my life and this is a thread with the purpose of getting to know me. Why am I not at least regionally famous now, then? In June 2011, I shattered my L3 and L4 vertebrae, resulting in my lumbar spine being replaced with a metal rod and a prescription to narcotics. My fiance was not a fan of that medication, but I wasn't abusing it, as I have family who became regular passengers on the Oxycontin express. We had a guy who had been living with/freeloading off us for about a year, and when my ex tried to kick him out, he pulled her outside and told her that I had been abusing my medication, which was a lie and she could have easily verified by counting, but instead she decided I needed to leave the next morning to go to rehab in Florida (because my sister lives there, not because she set up something) and put me on a plane to homelessville. That effectively ended what was the beginning of a career making a living with music.
To be continued[.../b]
