Transferring SX OS License to another console

This guide maybe useless but do-able

Assumption :

Switch A has an SX OS License, it doesnt matter if the console is healthy or not, we just need its eMMC module
Switch B is a healthy and working console

How it work

1. Backup the Switch A NAND to the micro sd card if possible, but if you got a bad or defective unit, then remove the eMMC module only along with its SX OS license.dat
2. Backup the Switch B NAND to the micro sd card, and remove the eMMC module
3. Install the Switch A eMMC module to Switch B, then restore the Switch B NAND into it
4. Copy or use SX OS license.dat from Switch A into Switch B
5. Use the latest SX OS version , e.g 2.7.1 beta, and boot the SX OS
6. Done

So each SX OS license is tied to a specific eMMC module (the eMMC chip), because each eMMC chip has a unique serial number

That's it..

Yeah. I'd never advise following a video guide. It gets outdated very quickly and can lead to many problems. The only video I followed of his was to update your switch with ChoirDujourNX (and I've had no problems with it).

Well that but Atmosphere will release EmuMMC soon. That's the biggest feature SXOS have. Making SXOS useless for good. Can't wait to try it on my 2nd Switch
You forgot USB hdd support sx will never be useless also easier to use as well

I'm doubtful this would work since the target Switch needs the NAND to verify it belongs to that unit and SXOS needs the NAND (and maybe other unit-specific info?) to verify to the donor Switch. It sounds like a good way to get the NAND bricked.

has this been confirmed? my sxos switch died and i got a replacement 4.1 out of the box but no license for sxos. i had it maybe 2 weeks and switch died. don't want to pay 30.00 for the new license. maybe if i had it for a few months and it died i wouldn't be so salty but this is crap. i could also understand if i sold the switch or gave it away but its literally a paper weight lol

Every Switch needs their own sxos license. Yes it sucks, but its probably how they prevent ppl from sharing their product features.

Well what do you use SX OS for?

@Essasetic
Mainly cheats and the external drive is nice. That’s about all I saw that was different and a few other small things I can’t remember off the top of my head.
I did a bunch of cheats for ps4 and Ps3. I just want to relax with this console and mainly for kids and wife. I ended up not playing the ps4 anymore because of it. Too much time finding offsets/values ending up not wanting to play at all
Plus all of the family saves, only backed up a few.

If you're doing mainly cheats and you don't mind sacrificing external HDD support. Atmosphere is a good free alternative.

wouldnt i still have to manually search values then also tittle id's and ect.?

now another concern this new device is still on 4.1 and not trying to burn any fuses either.

Just to be 100% clear, "switch b" still needs to be an older, exploitable version, right? I'd hate for someone trying to waste time trying this on a brand new "better" model if it has no chance of working. Or worse, waste money buying a new one thinking they could use this to get sx working on it.

Of course the newer switch is “hackable”. Did the test and it smashed the stack. Did the manual test with no sd card. Got the QR code

is it possible to transfer your switch sx os licence from a working switch to a patched relatively new switch ?
Because sx os is supposed to work on every switch now right ?

No, since the License is unique to your console it was made for.

what if switch a is taken completely out of the equation? what do i do then lol that switch a won’t read any sd cards

Solder wires from the connection points from the motherboard directly to SD card reader, if your SD card adapter on your baord is missing pins.
