There is no "guide" as there are multiple title installers and even more programs for installing .NSP files via USB. I personally use Aluminum Foil with Tinfoil. As for deleting the update, simply enter Maintenance Mode. Nintendo even has a guide for entering it but just do not do step 3. Simply entering this mode will remove the downloaded system update but be sure to remove Wi-Fi settings before entering Maintenance Mode otherwise the update will be downloaded again.
I managed to install NSPs, but not MK8 for some reason.

Managed to enter maintenance mode, but it did not solve the problem, my emunand is with the system update downloaded and ask to update everytime i try to run a game.

from what I've read, there's a "bypass firmware requirement" feature built into an app or cfw (not sure which it is).

there's a way to hex out that requirement. I think it's just one byte. however, you'd have to do that for every game. a work around -- not sure. I know linking an account works, but as far as making an account when you need to be on the latest firmware, I'm not sure. I didn't even know you had to be, but I guess that makes sense. that's how sony does it. you can make an account on their website, but in order to activate it (obtain an account id), you have to sign in at least once.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

oh, I just remembered something. I think you can activate your account by using kefir. it erases all saves or at least makes them not work, so back those up first. that's about all I know about the subject seeing as how I don't own a switch. it's just based on memory.

yeah on the switch when you try to make an account and your not on their current ofw itll say "a system update is required" which is what happened to me so i backed out and went on to installing cfw but now games that require it just to run not necessarily actually have to log in i cant do. i have this program to edit it out of games but not all games work with it at the moment. Ill take a look at the kefir thing. ive seen it here and there but not all of it good.

* i checked out kefirupdater and while the guide was scary as fck with all that firmware this and backup that and update this i just added the account without doing anything else and it worked. my god that was fcking simple.*

Hello,

I was trying to make an emuMMC with my switch to get started but the option wasn’t appearing. So I booted my switch and it promoted me to update to use my SD card. Doh! I went to 9.0.

I know I now have to wait.

Is there anything I can do right now to prep for when the update is out?

Am I not getting the option for emuMMC because I’m on version 9.0?

No, you can't do anything right now other than be patient.

Is there any downside to upgrading my emuMMC from 7.01 to 8.1? If so how effort is it to downgrade?

Just asking before I do it so I don't screw my self over.

Cheers.

Is there any workarounds for banned switch to access the Eshop and purchase contents? I think in the past only some users got super-banned, while most are just restricted to play online. But I think Nintendo has upped all bans to be superbans now, and no matter how tiny the breach is, you will get a superban, which really sucks for those of us who still wish to buy things.

sup, my unpatched, never hacked 8.1.0 switch is bitching about the 9.0 update. I plan on hacking the unit (after a full system backup of course)
the question is will this downloaded uninstalled 9.0 update cause problems when backing up my stock system?

you can always boot into maintenance mode to delete the downloaded 9.0 update. hold down both volume buttons while pressing the power. when the nintendo logo comes up let go of power but still hold both volume buttons. once maintenance mode loads just turn off the system.

make sure your switch is off the internet otherwise when you turn the system back on you will just download the update again.

Just wait - a version for 9.0.0 will literally be here in the next couple of days.

Thanks for the reply.
I don't plan on updating the unit past 8.1.0 it will break homebrew compatibility. (input librarys need updating)
Unmatained/closed source homebrew could take a long time before the needed recompile. unless a workaround is found/made for the old stuff I will stay here on 8.1.0 :)

EmuMMC is going to be tricky. I am not even sure if you can enter Maintenance Mode for it and if you have already tried entering Maintenance Mode, it may be impossible.

A workaround would involve circumventing the ban which is presently impossible. However, Nintendo has not really been distributing CDN bans anymore as the public can no longer abuse CDN downloading therefore CDN bans are not necessary since a normal ban gets the job done. Used consoles go very cheap on eBay if you purchase the tablet alone and some of them are even unpatched (they are around $150 USD).

I thought it would be hard.
Will open a thread later to see if someone have an answer.

At this point I'm still not sure how to get emuMMC working. Hekate says it's disabled stock emuMMC but I'm not entirely sure what a stock emuMMC is versus other methods. But when I tried setting up the partitions and making an emuMMC under Hekate, it didn't work for me and it just went back to Hekate every time I tried running it with emuMMC.

how do i use EXFat without update?
Use FAT32. exFAT on the Switch is not recommended because it can corrupt your SD card and there are numerous workarounds for files larger than 4 GiB with FAT32.

Stock emuMMC is booting emuMMC without CFW. Hekate has a Stock mode which is normally for sysMMC. This mode is very similar to OFW except it bypasses the fuse check. The reason it is disabled is because it is currently not functional.
