My Wii U has been running CBHC for quite a while now and I've forgotten some of the details regarding system updates etc.

My Wii U system settings say it's running 99.99.99.E.

I've just installed Hyrule Warriors but it won't let me launch the game - it says it needs a System Update before it can install the Software Update and then takes me to the System Settings system update page. If I try and install the update via Wii U USB Helper, WUUSBH crashes and it doesn't complete. And while WUUSBH says the update is on the SD card, WUP Installer can't see it, so my only known means of installing the update is direct from WUUSBH or letting the system do it.

I've no idea when Nintendo last released a firmware update and whether it poses any risk to my Wii U on 99.99.99.E CBHC.

Can anyone advise?

5.5.4 is safe. Update your console.

Yeh, I've come to the same conclusion. Thanks.

But question is, how do I do it?

If I run the system update I get an error. I assumed I had changed the DNS settings to prevent updates, but they're on Auto-obtain.

Do I need to remove CBHC before I can update?

Update it via the systemsettings?

No! Let the console do the update. The update process removes temporarily the coldboothax itself. After updating, start the "Don't touch me!" icon (which is haxchi) to launch the hbmenu and run the cbhc installer again. Restart the console and you have your cbhc again.

System settings update gives an error.

But I think I've realised why. I think I deleted the Update folder, which explains why my DNS settings are default. So if I recreate the update folder it should work...

Set the DNS settings to "automatically". You use an updateblocker atm. Thats the reason why you get an error.

DNS settings were already on Auto.

Trouble is I've just followed the 'restore update folder' procedure, but there's one already there (I was sure I'd deleted it), so now I don't know WTF going on...
