Hi. I got a question -I'm sorry if it was already asked, though, but it's hard to look it up on 18 pages of comments, and the search function didn't help me, so...

Does the "Install CIA(s) to 3DS..." tool properly works? I really wanted to try it in order to speed up my process of installing CIAs, and it sounds GREAT to be able to do so without having to turn off my 3DS, remove the SD card from it, insert the SD card on my computer, save the CIA files in it, then reinsert it in my 3DS and having to install them.

I correctly entered my 3DS IP address in the options menu, and I'm using the "Remote Instal > Receive URLs over the network" option in FBI at my Old 3DS, and I do successfully get the URL, but when I try to install it, I see no progress of the process and after a short while I get this:

View attachment 174684

Just for the record: As I mentioned it, I'm using an Old 3DS and I'm trying to install an NES CIA of Castlevania II (which I did in order to test this feature but with no luck).

Also, I have some other questions. Is there a general guide of all the functions and tools of the NSUI? I noticed there is a "CIA extract and rebuild" tool, which made me believe it let you extract the data of other rom/VC CIAs and use it to create an NSUI Project out of it (I got a freakton of NES and SNES CIAs, but most of them display a blasted stretched fullscreen screen and I honestly don't know why or how some people like it that way, them monsters, but yeah I was hoping to modify the screen size display), but alas it only let's you "rebuild" the CIA, which I'm not sure what's that good for, then directly install it on the 3DS, which results in the same problem I mentioned above.

Oh, and I was previously using beta 26, so in order to use beta 27 I exported a project from beta 26 and when trying to import it into beta 27, it only puts the project file into the Library folder but it won't appear on my lists of projects, making me unable to actually open it.

tl;dr: Can't install CIA directly from NSUI into my Old 3DS, send help.

I've never tried using NSUI's remote install function but I have used this tool to remotely install CIAs. You'll need to port forward whatever port you're using to connect to your 3DS. It works off of the same remote install function in FBI, and I haven't had issues with it, save for very large files.

This app is similar but has no issues with large files: https://gbatemp.net/threads/pre-release-pc-fbi-server-2-0-alpha.531104/

Only catch is that you need to have python installed and set as PATH variable (which only takes a few minutes if you don’t already have it).

Thanks for the reply. I tried it but unfortunately also didn't work... pretty much got the same result. Will post a photo later.

Python? PATH variable? Please excuse the blatant ignorance.

Edit: Wait, never mind. I'm into it! Hope this works!

It looks like your PC and DS are on different subnets or networks entirely... Make sure they are both connected to the same router.

Huh??? Well I only have one router in my house, but yeah, I checked (for just in case) and they are on the same router indeed.

Yep. For the VC platforms where Nintendo released games with ghosting/brightness changes, NSUI lets you pick between them, or to not have those changes applied.
That's really good to know, I will go ahead and fix my cias to have them the original more vibrant colors using NSUI!

Is there any way to change the language of the lower screen menu? I'm trying to make some JPN game more official-like.

If you're using RetroArch to run the game, you should be able to change the language of the bottom screen somewhere in the injector. Otherwise, you can try changing the system language.

You probably need to change your system language for that.

My 3DS is the JP version, so Japanese is the default system language. But the injected games are still in English.

Because my goal is to make the game look more like the official one, I usually use Nintendo VC.
As I said before, my system language is already Japanese, but that didn't help.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
