I'm not sure what you're describing, but you need to setup an emuNAND properly before you can launch an emuNAND properly.

I didn't setup an emuNAND.

I went to the "Launch" menu in hekate and selected the "CFW (EMUNAND)" option.

I think that, since I didn't have an emuNAND prepared, it defaulted to launching "CFW (SYSNAND)", which kinda sucks.

Also, emuMMC is not the same as emuNAND, is it? Because I created one as a SD File, but it doesn't boot after being selected.

Doing a factory reset will not clean a dirty NAND. If you are paranoid, you can restore your clean NAND backup to your sysNAND, but it's likely unnecessary.

Okay, thanks. And if I did restore the NAND backup, which one should I use? The BOOT0 & BOOT1 one, or the RAW GPP? Better yet, which are the steps to restore a NAND? The guide doesn't touch on that.

Quick question! Does all homebrew risk corrupting the SD card when it’s formatted as exFAT?
I’ve read people talk about «Homebrew optimized for both formats» but when looking at the explanation for why it corrupts, it seems to me that «optimized» for exFAT shouldnt be possible?

Looking specifically for a GBA emulator and I’m not interested in changing to FAT32 right now.

If you didn't prepare an emuNAND, it's obviously not going to boot into an emuNAND.

emuMMC and emuNAND are the same thing. Since the Switch doesn't use a NAND and instead uses an eMMC, the term is technically emuMMC. However, the terms are used interchangeably for clarity.

If you restore a NAND backup, you need to restore the raw NAND backup and the BOOT0/1. To restore a NAND, you just use Hekate to restore the aforementioned files.

Most things don't carry a corruption risk. While FAT32 is recommended to avoid possible issues, I've personally never had a problem with exFAT.

Sure, but it could've just error'd out instead of booting into CFW (sysnand)...

Odd, I've been trying it out and I can't seem to get it to work.
Created an emuNAND SD File, selected it, then tried launching it, and nothing. The screen either goes black, or it reboots to hekate and gets stuck its the boot screen.

Okay, so the steps to restore a NAND:
1) Restore eMMC RAW GPP
2) Restore eMMC BOOT0/1

Thank you.

Installing emuNAND to a separate partition is highly recommended.

I see, thanks.

Last question for now, I hope. :)
I noticed that if I have the BOOT0/1 and RAW on the same folder, the Restore option says that they are "paired".
Should I restore them separately or together?

Okey thanks. Would you happen to know what the most up to date GBA emulator is right now?
Is RetroArch the best way to go? Would really like a single emulator since GBA is all I'm gonna use and Retroarch is a bit of a hassle to set up.

It doesn't matter as long as they are restored at approximately the same time.

Just go here and select the mGBA core (or whichever GBA emulator people like the most).

No problem. Just create emunand as usual; it will make a copy of your current configuration. Then restore your nand backup to sysnand. Remember that if your nand backup does not have the exFat driver and your sd card is exFat, you will need to use a fat32 formatted card temporarily to get the exFat driver.

Thanks! I’m using Fat32. I have a couple more questions:

1) Should I just copy all of the files from my SD to the new partition?

2) And then the main partition should only have what the Switch creates plus Hekate?

3) What’s a good size for the main partition?

4) With this set up I can’t use RCM anymore, right? I have to use a jig to launch Hekate to go to emuNAND CFW each time I completely shut down, right?

Hey guys, I need some help with atmosphere. My switch is version 8.1.0 AMS 0.9.2, fat32, but when I upgraded from 0.8.9 to 0.9.2 my games went missing, so I ignored it and kept installing other games as usual. Now I need some space but I can't find where the games were. Does anyone have any idea where they are on the sd card?

EDIT: I never used EmuMMC or anything like that.

I have a SX OS that was on 2.X firmware 7.0.1 and I just updated my emunand to 2.8 and Firmware 8.1.0 via ChoidujourNX. My SD is in exfat but i mistakenly updated to 8.1.0 using the fat32 option (the not exfat option in chou). Then instead of clicking reboot now I choose shutdown now.

Now I cant boot emunand with CFW - When booting cfw thru sx os the nintendo logo pops up then black screen.

I can boot OFW tho.

Please help

Thanks

If it is not hidden partition, format the card to FAT32, and then re-apply exFAT update via choidujourNX.

You have your sig patches? switch to FAT32 by the way, exFAT is corruption prone.

Yes, sigpatches and fat32. Do you know in which folder the games are located?

Game are stored in the Nintendo folder but you can delete them from the system data management, you can either delete the games you don't want or get a larger card, by default you can delete them from the home menu.
