Does stealth mode actually do anything other than block Nintendo servers while active? If so there would be all kinds of traces of XCIs that Nintendo could read whenever you turn it off.

Did you update your .XCI/.NSP games online? Y
AutoRCM? Y (long ago)
When you updated your games online, was it in CFW, OFW, or both? And did you use AutoRCM from SX OS or from a non-TX tool?

It's either you f up somewhere or worst is that they're now able to detect emunand.
He did not use emuNAND. Him and everyone else affected by the recent banwave all did the same thing: updating their .XCI files online which has been long proven to be a noteworthy ban cause dating back shortly after the LayeredFS banwave. If you haven't been banned yet for doing this, consider yourself lucky.

Does stealth mode actually do anything other than block Nintendo servers while active? If so there would be all kinds of traces of XCIs that Nintendo could read whenever you turn it off.
While Stealth Mode does block all Nintendo-related traffic, it does nothing to stop any traces of CFW that persist after the consoles turn off such as .XCI or .NSP files which is what leads to bans. This is also why I never ask any user if they use Stealth Mode or not because Stealth Mode does not prevent bans; it merely delays them.

I'm still skeptical of the xci updating on OFW being the cause. Maybe there is something about emunand/NSP installing or stealth mode that isn't foolproof. Has there been any reports of anyone getting banned that only ever used SXOS offline, no network settings, no wifi nearby that requires no password, airplane mode all the time, ONLY XCIs regardless of NSPs being installed in emunand etc?

There's so many possibilities that I'm confusing myself trying to list them, but how about:

SXOS offline and stealth mode
no emunand
no NSPs/DLC
no homebrew
no wifi settings
airplane mode
XCI only
dedicated SD card just for SXOS offline XCIs

and THEN, any XCI icons updated manually in Horizon, OFW, SYSnand etc., being the only thing done using network connections involving XCIs. I'd be curious if anyone being that strict has gotten banned.

The reason I'm skeptical is because you could just plug in a legit switch cart of any XCI you have (or load the XCI in SXOS), then unplug it (or reboot into OFW) and you can get updates for any cartridges without any trace of the fact that you ever had an XCI loaded or a cartridge plugged in other than the icon in OFW. If nintendo sends some sort of data every time someone with a legit switch and cartridge does something like this, it seems like a massive amount of data being sent that would need to be analyzed or monitored by nintendo at some point to determine "this person is/isn't using an official cartridge!" and ban due to this.

It's worth noting that for any game that actually uses nintendo's network, like an online multiplayer game (i.e.: not just plugged in and later look for updates when the cartridge/XCI is long gone), it makes sense that some sort of data about the installed game or cartridge is sent sometimes because it has a constant network connection in order to play and that's the entire point of having unique IDs on a cartridge. It's all those other random "i plugged in a cartridge and then took it out" that I can't imagine they would flood their usage data with.

First off, none of these users used emuNAND meaning emuNAND is successful at preventing bans when you do not bring any CFW or homebrew online which these users did. Secondly, Stealth Mode does not prevent bans in any way, shape, or form because it mimics a ban. The only way to find out if your banned is by turning off Stealth Mode which can get you banned. Lastly, these bans are from users who have updated their .XCI files online whether in CFW or OFW. People who keep their .XCI files strictly offline, to the best of my knowledge, have not been banned.

That's good to know. You do have reports of users who updated their "XCI was here" icons later in online sysnand (not in SXOS), and they got banned even though that's all they ever did?

Correct, these were some of the first non-LayeredFS bans that everyone besides me seems to have forgotten about.

Wasn't everything pretty crappy back then like homebrew creating their own error codes etc. Those people only ever used XCIs, updated them online and nothing homebrew related whatsoever?

It's hard to imagine anyone truly being that careful back when layeredFS was a thing, since bans were just starting anyways.

OMG the BANS are back!!! Gotta go check my Switch and see if it got banned (Yes its the same Switch i've been using for XCI ONLY).

edit: So far so good, no ban. I've been using XCI since September 2018 and haven't install a single NSP on my console. (Used NSC.Builder to update my games on my PC and repackage them into one single XCI with DLC and Updates inside).

True and the ban error report form wasn't as refined as it is now but it still doesn't change the fact that people have been banned for updating .XCI files in OFW, both now and in the past.

When you talk about Emunand security, do you mean emuMCC too or just the first?

EmuNAND=emuMMC. The vernacular difference is because the Switch doesn't have a NAND, it has an eMMC (hint: what do you backup with Hekate, the NAND or eMMC?) But since TX aka Gateway first coined the term and since the Switch scene mostly comprises people from the 3DS scene, EmuNAND just stuck.

I am banned :(.

I got the blue screen of death when trying to update so my fuse count matched... Might have booted into sysnand with CFW online a few times back when 6.1.0 was new.

THIS SUCKS.

I was trying to update the firmware via the sysnand. I belive this corrupted my BOOT 0/1. Booted to a blue screen. I burnt fuses in the process until I was able to update to 8.1.0. Nand was in airplane mode, but I went online several times when running 6.1.0. Ran cfw online without dns or incognito months ago. 2124-4508 Is promoted when i try to access the eshop or redownload any game.

Ban Proof:

All I get is this console has been restricted from online services lol.

Now that I’m on the other side. Is it possible to play online with other banned users via some sort of mod?

No, I was referring to the Semi-Official Nintendo Switch Ban Report Form at the top of the first post of this thread that people have reposted if you scroll up. And if you want to play with other people over the Internet, your alternative is Switch Lan Play/Xlink Kai.

I edited my post. Should have the needed info for the ban report. Xlink Kai is probably what I’ll do. Lol

I guess I’m now forced to get a Switch Pro.
