Hacking "<3 nedwill 2016 an error has occurred" Help Required

Hiya,

I'm having some issues getting the Soundhax file to run on my OLD 3DS running 7.1.0-4E firmware and wondered if someone could help please.

I followed the instructions found here:

But upon launching the M4A file using the built in music app, I get an error saying the software has force closed and the system reboots without launching me into the homebrew launcher.

I ensured that the file extensions are enabled so my "otherapp.bin" doesn't have an extra ".bin" in the name. The otherapp.bin I used was "otherapp1.bin" which is designed for my FW level.

Below is what's on my SD Card:

The SD Card is 128GB but I formatted it as per the instructions on 3ds.hacks, giving it the correct cluster size etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like you cartridge updated from 2.1.0-4E to 7.1.0-4E, so you can't use Soundhax. You will need to use the browser method, ntrboot method, or update and use the Seedminer method.

If you don't have a DS flashcart, I recommend trying the browser method. If that doesn't work, I recommend the Seedminer method.

If you do have a DS flashcart, I recommend the Seedminer method.

What a helpful reply! I tried Googling this for about an hour to no avail so thank you for the informative answer!

I did actually try the browser method earlier but that failed too. Each time I navigated to the URLs (with the correct files on my SD card), the browser just crashed with an error.

So I just let the system upgrade straight to the latest version then using the updater in the settings? Nothing special I need to do and no downside to upgrading that high?

I don't have a DS Flash Cart either so that's out of the question.

Yeah I tried it for the 5th time and it's not working All files are correct on my SD card but the URL that works (1 doesn't due to HTTPS, second is dead), crashes my browser everytime.

I'll just update now to the latest version and do the seedminer method. I read the steps and while it's quite a lot of work, it doesn't seem too tricky.

Will see how I get on as I'm prepping now and updating the DS!

Just an FYI, it took about an hour and half but I was able to install the Custom Launcher using the very long (but well documented) Seedminer + Steelhax + Frogtool method
