What’s DZ?
DZ is a homebrew application written by blawar/vertigo (depending on which platform you are on) that started out as a title installer but has gained a variety of other functions. However when Adubbz announced he would stop public development of Tinfoil and that he was handing the reins over to Xortroll, blawar/vertigo was not pleased with the decision and renamed his own tool to Tinfoil.

Why is it DZ/Tinfoil doesn’t work with Hekate as is? Isn’t this something Xortroll and CTCaer could work out? Do these two not get along or something?

dz doesn't work because of those missing acid and nomac patches, which are included in this pack. just tested dz on 5.0.1 hekate with those patches, it's working.

Why does CTCaer object to having these patches, requiring others to put them in?

Because you do not need ACID patches. Blawar/vertigo only requires them in his tool so he can have faster installation speeds. With ES patches and fs_nosigchk, you can install both .NSP and .XCI files.

formerly known as Hekate mod "J" (I used to maintain Hekate fork that has ACID & nocmac patches hard coded, but recently decided to discontinue due to the latest changes on Hekate v5 and Tinfoil/Lithium)

This handy All-in-One package includes everything you need to run modified/installed contents on Switch.

Features
  • ES patches for FW 2.0.0 - 8.1.0
  • default nosigchk(FS) patches for FW 1.0.0 - 8.1.0
  • ACID(FS) patches for FW 1.0.0 - 8.1.0
  • nocmac(FS) patches for FW 1.0.0 - 6.2.0
How to use
  1. Download the latest release and extract it to the root of your Switch SD card
  2. Start hekate through e.g. Fusée Gelée, TegraRcmSmash or WebCFWLoader
  3. ???
  4. Profit!
(Optional) How to use nocmac (this is not really needed unless you are trying to manually downgrade to 6.1.0 by using the PC method via https://switch.homebrew.guide/usingcfw/manualchoiupgrade)

open hekate_ipl.ini then simply add "kip1patch=nocmac" under "kip1patch=nosigchk"

Nice work
I have no use of this right now but it's cool to check up on the homebrew scene sometimes.
Haven't used my switch in ages.

In this package there is the payload of hekate 5.0.1 and other folders from hekate. Are those any different from the original hekate or are they the same? I only installed the patches and use the payload from hekate github.

Joonies Hekate got patches so that it works with tinfoil without throwing errors.

I understand that but my question was about the added payload in this package. If that payload was any different then the one from hekate’s github.

Those patches are triggered by kip1patch=nosigchk and the patches.ini.

But on MX-LINX thread blawar said to use the payload that comes with this package but can’t see why. Tried both but still no file browser. The nag for deleting stuff is gone also on Tilfoil.

Because you would have a nag the original payload. Why he even implements the nag, and then says to use this hekate to circumvent it, is miles and miles beyond me.

Using the payload from hekate and the patches from this thread doesn’t give me the nag in Tinfoil nor Mx linx. Only missing out the file browser. Using the modded version solves that.

Please make sure to use the latest kosmos 13.0.2 then apply this patch pack.

just movee all the folders to root? should we be using the kehate 5.01 then?

The same method you used to install Kosmos works.

In this package there is the payload of hekate 5.0.1 and other folders from hekate. Are those any different from the original hekate or are they the same? I only installed the patches and use the payload from hekate github.

The payload binary itself is identical to the latest 5.0.1 official, however you will need everything in the archive for full NSP support. I just included to ensure that users with older version would be able to apply the latest Hekate without any hassle.

May be a stupid question since the title says "Kosmos patches", but are these of any use on stock Atmosphere?
I got here cuz of what they've been saying in the MM-LINX topic btw

The stock atmosphere does not read patches.ini and it only recognizes ips patches for both fs and es patches. So you do not need this if you are using fusee-primary to boot your CFW (Atmosphere).

And Tinfoil/Lithium/DZ do not prevent the stock Atmosphere .

I remember Tinfoil not working even if I used fusee-primary just because it detected hekate on the microSD (I do have hekate as well). Would these patches be able to address such an issue?
Back then I just used your hekate fork to avoid the warning message Tinfoil was throwing at me.
