Hello,

Today i was installing a cfw for my brother's switch.
So this is the story of me messing up my backup.

He's on 8.1.0, i backed the nand, prepared the sd card with everything on exfat, created an emunand.
It doesn't worked. i realise he dont have exfat driver.

so... i updated via nintendo prompt and booted cfw on nand to see if it was working now, hummmmm, s###.

If i restore, do you think can i make a second exfat update safely or i take a risk with nintendo?

  1. What specifically happens when you try to boot CFW?
  2. Why are you using emuNAND?

I got the typical blackscreen after nintendo logo.
I wanted to keep he's nand clean with all his game and create an emunand for everything else.
Now shes not cuz i installed the exfat update and booted in cfw.

I should have updated exfat THEN made a backup, i assumed he had the exfat driver because he was on the lastest firmware.

The exFAT driver will only install itself through an update if one tries to use an exFAT SD card. Alternatively, it can be installed with ChoiDujourNX.

If she plans on using online play, then an offline emuNAND for hackery is required if you don't want her to get banned. If she is uninterested in online play, then an emuNAND is not required.

Hes interrested in online thats why im embarrased.
The nand booted to cfw so i assume its not safe anymore.
The clean backup is on 8.1 and dont have exfat support. so nintendo will promp me to update.
Im worried nintendo will find suspicious doing another exfat update if i restore.

If all you did was boot Atmosphere on the clean sysNAND and you did nothing else, it's probably still clean.
