Will my original saves be safe after I hack my Switch?

I'm planning to follow this guide: guide (dot) dsetup (dot) com
(sorry I'm not able to post links because of my new account)

I have a non-patched Switch with many saves on it that I'd really like to keep. If I follow this guide to install a CFW, will my saves still be there?

This might be a noob question but I couldn't find the answer anywhere - I wouldn't want to lose my Zelda and Odyssey progress ofc.

Save would be there.

Hey so I just got home from work and I held it for 30 seconds and it went into RCM mode it worked like a charm thank you again for all your help!
Yea it mean open it up, unplug the battery and plug in back in, and see if power on, if you can't get it to power on there is nothing much you can do.

Hi is custom photos and video possible via the switch video viewer built in with out hacking or is impossible due to the way it works?
Actually you don't need to hack the console to load custom pictures. You can use this tool to sign any picture for the Switch Album application to recognize it.
How do i use the eMMC SYS to restore unlike a rawnand.bin it is in multiple files.
This is exactly what i have
BCPKG2-1-Normal-Main
BCPKG2-2-Normal-Sub
BCPKG2-3-SafeMode-Main
BCPKG2-4-SafeMode-Sub
BCPKG2-5-Repair-Main
BCPKG2-6-Repair-Sub
PRODINFO
PRODINFOF
SAFE
SYSTEM
BOOT0
BOOT1
Since it is multiple files i dont know how to restore it.
Thanks.
Drop them in the backup/(console specific string)/restore directory. If you don't have this folder, you can easily make one by trying to restore any file and having Hekate fail which will end up making the correct file path.

This is kinda embarrassing I was here earlier and I thought my problem was solved.

Hey guys, I hope you can help me out or at least give me answers.

I tried to downgrade from 8.0 to 6.4 (I couldn't get any NSPs to install and work) and now when I inject the payload (current Fusse-primary), it loads atmosphere, then the screens goes black. Then when I plug it in my PC it doesn't read my device at all but then I hold the power button for about 30 seconds then it loads into RCM then it starts hat cycle. At a few times, not consistently it showed a full battery than a lighting symbol so it thought it needed to be charged so I tried putting it in the dock and the dock reads it for a second then turns the light off reading the switch. Does anyone know what's going on?

I should mention something similar happened before but it was "off" for a couple of minutes then it came back. so I waited all night and I still don't have a response from my switch.

Thank you guys!

Before I go through with this, can my switch get banned for extracting keys using BISKEYDUMP and Lockpick_RCM, as well as HacDiscMount and stuff that isn't CFW or game backup related?

My end intention is to extract keys, pull a BOTW save off of the switch, extract it from the save file, inject the edited save back in to the save file, inject the edited save file back in to the switches emmc and play the edited save.

I've already proof of concept'ed it on my hacked switch so I know the method I'm using works, just a roundabout way of editing a save since CFW online gets you banned.

Nintendo can detect altered saves and WILL ban you at some point for doing this if the console ever goes online.

Thank you, was hoping that limboing around the CFW requirement to dump and inject saves would work out especially for a single player game like BOTW. Guess I'll keep to the hacked switch.

I have a nintendo switch that is hackable on firmware 4.1 and I also have sx os . is it safe to update my device directly to 8.0.1 and is there a tutorial that I can follow ?

Use the homebrew app ChoiDujourNX to update to 8.0.1. Then you can always go back to 4.1.0. And yes, it’s safe. Don’t forget to use the latest SX OS release. Tutorial is in the SX OS forum.

One last ? do i have to restore each file individually or does the program bunch them all together.
Thanks.

hello guys, sorry in advance if this question has been done before.
correct if I'm wrong, if i played roms in my switch using cfw, there's no way to play online with original games or f2p in ofw without the risk of ban? I have to restore the nand backup? and how?

Last edited by Zetman,
i downloaded an xci file from mario rabbids kingdom battle. when i played the game it was with english text.
i thought i had the wrong version since i needed dutch subtitles.
in the meantime i purchased the official cartridge with dutch language on it. so i tried to use sx dumper to dump the game. When i tried playing it.. it still only displays the english language. I deleted all save files but no change. other games do work in dutch.
And this game has the dutch subtitles because i saw a complete walkthrough video with this.
what could I have done wrong?
please help

Hi,
just a quick question. I still have BOOT0, BOOT1 and the nand backup from 6.x.
In the meantime I reversed the hack and used it normally with 8.0.1. Now I want to put homebrew on it again.
So I already have too many fuses blown. Can I just delete those backups or can they still server a purpose?

The very first time you start mario rabbids kingdom battle, it will ask for a subtitle language. After that there is a "Language" option in the main menu. Is the only Language available English or can you use that to change the subtitle language?

Theoretically, if a cold boot exploit was ever released that required 6.x but still utilized AutoRCM in some way (then it is not really a cold boot exploit?), then that backup would be useful.

That is an edge case however and since the fuse count now requires requiring 7.0.x/8.0.x+ there would be no functional difference between restoring from that 6.x NAND backup and just downgrading via ChoiDujourNX manually. I would keep the backup if I had extra space on the PC/SD card but otherwise, just delete it.

Thank you.
One more thing. It is still useful to have "a" NAND backup for recovery purposes even it still requires AutoRCM/CFW to actually boot. If it is your only backup, then I would not delete it, but then again you could also make a nand backup the firmware you are currently running and have it boot OFW without autoRCM.

It went into VERY cold storage, thank you :3

so after I updated my device to 8.0.1 using choidujournx. Now if I turn on the device into the official firmware or if I disable the autorcm will it burn the fuses ?

Yes, the sole purpose of AutoRCM when updating without burning fuses is to prevent fuses from being burnt.
