Okay, so yes if you get a new switch will still be banned from smash bros, but seems only banned from smash bros, and I suppose dont play online with people who arent banned, this is bs, the only thing I can imagine is that they could see you were both on the same ip address at the time(?), also is it possibal if you unline the account, and make a new account on the banned switch, maybe she wont be banned, might be account only? I dunno though would that erase saves? Might wanna back them up (could go offline, nand backup, backup saves, then restore nand(?) wow that sound like a pain though.

This ban is so weird, I would consider arguing with nintendo about it(argue more, some ppl have supposedly gotten responses from a bit higher up with the exact reason for ban).

she was banned for ''playing with a hacker'' Now Nintendo is just saying she's the hacker. Also apparently nintendo of america don't make the bans. Nintendo Japan does. She even recorded herself talking to nintendo. Nintendo were saying she modded her switch when she clearly didnt and she yelled at them. '' something doesn't add up'' that's Nintendo for you. You just can't face facts that Nintendo ban innocent people. I'm the one who should be ban lol ''she wasn't ban for no reason'' nope don't get full of it. View attachment 169224
That still they no rights to do that cause she not the hacker. Now if she got some from him still she’s not the hacker so shouldn’t be ban cause u was a hacker

I have a question.
If I buy a new switch, never hacked before and I use my old mario kart D8 save in the new switch and play online, will I get banned ?
If your save was modified in any way, you will probably get banned. If you didn't touch the save file, then you will probably not get banned.

Not ready to spend money for a "probably not get banned" lol
I want to do that only to play mario kart 8 and the next pokemon.
Im not familiar with hacking and I didnt make a backup, but let's say a friend of mine did, is it safe to use his back up every time I want to play online ?

I know this was answered in another thread but just so you and everyone else is aware, NAND dumps are console-specific. Using one in another console will cause a brick.

Thank you for letting everyone know and sorry for asking the same thing in multiple threads

We don't live together to have same IP. it is bullshit, that's why I bought her a new Switch. She did argue with Nintendo but they were like ''sorry but they said you were the hacker'' and she was like ''You can have my switch you can see I have no hacks!" But they said ''we can't touch it after it's been modified''. She doesn't know anything about hacks btw. She doesn't know atmosphere or xecuter or anything

i can see this being a problem with the new Pokemon games especially if you unknowing battled some one who has a hacked console and got burned for doing it even if you had no clue that guy you played use atmos or anything else if this increases in likelyhood I can see a few lawsuits comming the big N's way

also is the big reason why they won't touch her console is because they don't want to be proven wrong that you're friends console indeed was not hacked which is totally wrong if you make a mistake own up to it,but unlike my above scenario with the future pokemon games i'm guessing giga bowser isn't playable in smash which is a dead give away my scenario as you know pk hex can gen legal pokemon so if nintendo has a way to detect pkhex'd pokemon even legal ones and starts banning unmodded switches for playing with hacked consoles thats where the problem will arise

Yea but I’m asking how does Nintendo find out if you have cfw. Also how likely am I to grt caught
Piracy shit (due to invalid tickets), custom titles installed to the home menu (due to invalid title IDs), and cheating/modding in online titles are all very obvious, if you avoid those you'll likely be fine. Error logs also use to be an issue, but aren't anymore

So if i download games (that i bought) on my modded switch in sleep mode whilst not in homebrew, will i get banned?

I mainly just wanna do save file edits for PKM and BOTW, am I likely to get banned for this?
looking into getting a second switch in the future and transferring everything over and then using my old one for home brew.

Well let me weigh in here real quick;
It isn't that hard for Nintendo to check some things on SD level even.
In the past for instance with iPhones it was very normal to search for certain footprints on the filesystem.
If they where there ... you jailbreaked your iPhone.
And apps could block certain aspects then.

In case with the Nintendo Switch, payloads themselves dont leave a real trace (except if you use autorcm correct me if im wrong there) but your SD COULD tell Nintendo more then enough. If there are 'Nintendo-blacklisted' files there ... well you COULD be flagged.

It could be that the rabbit hole goes as deep as that.
The thing is we don't know what Nintendo does and does not check.
Hence there is always a risk.

Only real feasible option; a secondary Switch but well that is not a solution for everyone.
Also keep in mind the whole hackable and patched situation when going there ... I was a numbskull who got a patched Nintendo Switch (but well Im ok with it nowadays)

Yes because some traces of CFW persist after shutting it down or rebooting.

Highly likely. Save the editing for after you get your second Switch.

By PKM, do you mean Pokémon? BOTW is generally fine from what I've heard, and Pokémon is partially an online game so doing edits for that may not be a great idea

I'm still curious about why people still think this. None of the system saves look like they'd be messed with by CFW (unless your pirating shit or installing custom titles), system NCAs can't be modified for obvious reasons. There's a few dev sys modules that can log things such as dmnt, but they don't exist on retail, and aren't an issue for us.
