So I have a bunch of ps2 games/backups/whatever and I play them without a problem!
But the other day, I loaded a ps2 game, and as time went on, the fans kept getting louder and louder!
I was not annoyed, I was worried. I never had this issue before! And no, I didn't screw with the webMAN settings.

I looked it up, and some say that it's ok unless it hits up 80C...

Also, when I quited the game, the fans were still loud

(Just to point that out, I have the fan control to SYSCON bc whenever the PS3 booted up the fans were loud and then were back to normal and SYSCON fixed this problem.)

...man this PS3 keeps creeping me out!
Edit: Yes, I said I HAVE the fan control to SYSCON not I SWITCHED to syscon, because I am on syscon since I downloaded the first ps2 backup.

Omg! Can you please tell me how you got PS2 games to work? I need to know your exact set up. Exactly what you did. I've been trying for days. I made a thread about it here.

Uh oh... looks like you have the super slim!
Super slim can't handle PS2 games at all...

Maybe that's just a theory... I don't know, sorry, I have the FAT version of the PS3...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

edit: I mistook the slim to the super slim, sorry, my apologies!

Maybe the game you're trying to play isn't compatible with the game...

Ummm sorry to tell you, this thread is useless because that ONE time I thought the fans were loud, but it was because there was utter silence that one time. My PS3 is absolutely OK.... almost.

I heard that the ps3 temp shouldn't go higher than 80C while in PS2 mode...
Because every time I play a PS2 game, it goes up to 80C and higher.

Is that a bad thing

Probably (depending on the fan speed) - not terribly so because of the number itself, but due to the expansion and later contraction that will happen due to thermal cycling

Does the air that come out feel appropriately hot for 80°C?
If not, open it up and replace the thermal paste - preferably also delidding the CPU/GPU and replacing it on the inner side of the IHS too

It's okay dude. I found the problem. Had to install a fix program. To fix the PS2 emuoaemu inside my system. Now it works great.

If you’re running up to 80c have you tried opening the console and replacing the thermal paste with arctic silver 5? The stock stuff is basically crap, and using something good will help a LOT. I’ve done this and reduced the auto fan speed down to 10-15%. It also won’t hurt to get all the dust out of the console.
