I am using a GameCube controller adapter with my Wii U and I cannot get my GC controller to work with Nintendont. I have updated to the latest version of Nintendont and downloaded the controller zip. I found several places that said not to plug in the GC controller adapter until the game has fully loaded in Nintendont but this doesn't resolve the issue either. Really want to play through Super Mario Sunshine again and any help getting my GC controller to work would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the fast reply! The controller is a wired Nintendo official controller not Wavebird, but the adapter is 3rd party pdobq brand. The adapter was a best seller on Amazon and had good reviews

ok i just searched on the q&a's and some people say it works with nintendont. Make sure the adapter is on switch/wii u mode and not pc mode. also on the nintendont settings, make sure allow hid devices is turned on

edit: that setting doesnt exist. after selecting where are your games, (if they are on sd or usb) on the menu where all your games appear, press 1 if you are using a wiimote or x if you are using a classic controller/classic controller pro. then select "download controllers.zip" and the app will download it for you. then restart nintendont and try again. just make sure to connect the adapter and controller before starting nintendont

The Allow HID devices option doesn't seem to included in the latest version of Nintendont. I saw some posts that suggest it might be enabled by default now? I attached an image of the Nintendont options that I see

Sorry, I missed your edit. I had previously downloaded the controllers.zip but I just did it again and after a restart the GC controller still doesn't work. Adapter is in Switch/WiiU mode and I tried plugging it in before and after the game loads but still no luck

try placing this file on the root of both of your sd/usb if you have both if not just in one. and do the same procedure (connect the adapter and controller before launching nintendont) (unzip it first) the path should be sd:controller.ini or usb:controller.ini or both

I'm using a SD card so I copied controller.ini to the root of my SD card and relaunched Nintendont with the adapter connected. Unfortunately the GC controller still doesn't work with Mario Sunshine

I moved the boot.dol you supplied to SD:/apps/Nintendont/boot.dol and relaunched but I'm still having the same issue. I'm beginning to think this 3rd party adapter doesn't work.

it is maybe the adapter. does it work with smash? connect it to a pc and verify it is detected as wup-028. if not, then the adapter is the issue.

WAIT. I KNOW WHY DID THE “USE HID DEVICE” OPTION WAS NOT PRESENT! When you are on the screen where all your games appear, Press “B” on your wiimote or cc/ccpro and a secret menu will appear. there should be an option called like that. just turn it on!

When I connect the adapter to my computer is shows up as "GameCube Controller Adapter" with USB ID:057E 0337. After some searching this appears to be the correct USB ID. It also doesn't work with Smash Bros Melee or any other GC game.

I attached an image of the settings that come up when I press B on the screen with my games listed in Nintendont. There are no options that deal with HID devices

I'm thinking about getting one of these to try: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YH3NWTW/

My Wiimote works fine with Nintendont so I don't see why that adapter wouldn't work as well since it connects through the Wiimote
