I backed up boot0/1 and Emmc sys prior to updating to 7.0.1 and my son just updated to what I believe is 8.0.0 I don't really know because I didn't see what he did. Cfw or stock won't launch from hekate 4.9.1, which makes sense if it's 8.0.0.

Can I just restore to 6.2.0 using those backups I made and be fine? If not I suppose waiting til hekate and atmosphere to support V8 isn't the worst

Your efuses will have been burnt, you can't downgrade your firmware below 8.0 due to this .
You will have to wait until 8.0 is supported.
Search google for Nintendo switch efuses for additonal reading.

If you update using the Chou(something)NX tool , you can upgrade and downgrade while avoiding the burning of efuses, but upgrading via the switch will burn efuses.

Burnt fuses load of shit ha ha.

My friends son has updated his and it wouldn't boot Atmosphere. I simply disabled AutoRCM and let it boot into stock 8.0 for now. I'm pretty sure a nand backup would work if restored :)

Yes it will, but you won't be able to boot a lower firmware without Hekate & AutoRCM. At least that's my understanding from previous threads.

That's different from downgrading the firmware however.

aww :(
where are you sciresm, youre my only hope ;_;

Hopefully there won't be many major differences and Atmosphere will be updated soon. It will come it's just a matter of time for the big man himself to check things over and update them. He's a machine.

No of course not but i think a lot of people are panicking thinking something is majorly broken, it's unfortunate but it's not major. If there's no nand backup to restore with Hekate it's just a wait for an updated Atmosphere.

I'm pretty sure nobody's said 8.0 is unhackable just that it patches exploits for patched switches.
The only people who have anything to worry about are those waiting for a coldboot & those with patched switches.
I don't think there's any point in restoring an older backup with burnt efuses though.

Thanks for all the replies, guess we have to wait.

And yes it was my son lol we are on a road trip and we each have our own systems. I have 3 personally, one for sx, one for atmosphere and one ipatched (that one cost me $40 total ;) ) I must've forget to add the DNS to his, I was relying on Nintendo not permitting banned systems to update but since they revoked that I obviously can't rely on that method anymore.

Just boot without hekete and gain access - no need for CFW until you can do a restore back down to 7 or wait until there is CFW for 8...

First before you do something make a new full Nand Backup of your 8.0.0 firmware.

Then restore your 6.2.0 backup. After that you can only access to the OS using hetake because of the different fuses count. Update your switch using choidujournx to 7.0.1. And if all that works, then make a new full Nand Backup of your 7.0.1. You can do this because 7.0.1 and 8.0.0 have the same fuses count

Some folks are saying that on Discord (I read that on other thread), but some poeple updated to 8.0.0 and no fuses burn.

So right now I really dont know what to believe and the switchbrew isnt updated yet. So in conclusion @VashTS please let us know what is your fuses count before you do anything

What I read was that if you had AutoRCM enabled, no burned fuse in the update, if you had it disabled then burned fuse. I wouldn't know atm since I was stupid and updated (thinking it was a game update)
