does backup works only in ofw? can I backup even if I am in CFW (atmosphere)? doesn't matter if its not clean, I just needed a restore point if something goes wrong, I may have already asked this in this thread but I got confused if the answer refers to OFW or CFW.
Wasn't entirely sure what your question was referring to so I checked your previous post and it seems you were a bit confused on NAND backups. The purpose of a NAND backup is to recover from a brick first and foremost. While its impossible for you to make a clean NAND backup, you should still make one as you don't want your console to turn into an overpriced paperweight.

Anyone know if "xfl" units are patched yet?
We don't know. People who buy them don't report them as patched or unpatched so its anyone's guess. The only thing we do know is that they seem to have recently popped up so they could be patched but like I said, we could be overreacting.

My switch won't enter RCM mode. I purchased the jig "NF Orange RCM Joy-Con Jig".
I used the jig, paper clip, and tinfoil method. None worked. My firmware might be patched(followed a guide), the guide tells me that it is still possible for the switch to enter rcm mode but that I can't send a payload to it. But my problem is entering rcm mode in the first place. Can someone help?

Thanks, what I am asking is, I am currently using Atmosphere CFW, can I just make a back up of it, or do i need to revert back to ofw to make a back up?

Hi all,

I have some noob questions. I'm quite out of touch with the scene as i've been time limited lately. I have a switch on 6.2 (AMS 0.8.2) that runs fine. My fuse count is still that of a 3.0.2 console. I've been thinking of updating but just have no idea how to go about it. I load via Hekate, as in past i've tried to load from Fusee before it was very reliable (i've seen some tweets from SciresM with bug fixes that would apply to my setup). I still have no access to my gallery as i'm either a) on an old enough setup where button modifiers to get into HBL weren't a thing or b) just too dumb to have done that yet.

I'd like to update to a current build on the latest firmware, but have been marginally spooked by seeing some posts around here sporatically mentioning things like "choidujourNX doesn't work to go back from 7.x to earlier builds" amongst other things.

Could anyone please recommend the easiest path of upgrade to 7.x AMS 0.8.5?

Thanks so much for reading,

Why update to 7.0.0+? Nothing new.

He's right you know

That's fine and probably valid, but being able to access my album would be cool and I'm going to have to update eventually to run new cartridges and stuff. Information will be valid then, but I'll know it now. Is there a reason NOT to update?

Awesome. Assuming the update is in .XCI format, Once converted to NSP then install it on system rather SDCard in order for system to recognise it or it doesn't actually matter where update is installed into? Also Do I play it from CFW or FW?

As far as I know all consoles go to RCM mode. If your serial is vulnerable to the exploit your console should returns success upon sending a payload test. I used a tinfoil method and worked just fine.

If you somehow find the update in .XCI format, which I highly doubt, then its not just a game update; it would have to be the game plus the update. Updates can't be in .XCI format because it doesn't make sense. .XCI files are games you mount. You cannot mount an update.

Assuming you do find the update in .NSP format one way or another, it doesn't matter where it goes but obviously, if it is installed to the SD card, the update will only be applied when that SD card is inserted. And if you are installing the update rather than grabbing it from online, it will only work in CFW.

Oh I see! my bad xD. Indeed it seems hard to find the 5gb recent update for L.A. Noire. Is there an official Nintendo page with all game's updates?

Unfortunately they do not. For big name titles, the list of updates can be found on their website if you Google the name of the game plus update. There are third-party sites that try to track the updates of all games such as this one: https://www.perfectly-nintendo.com/nintendo-updates/

How big is the SD card? How did you format it to FAT32? And what cluster/allocation size did you use?
I used Gnome-size I believe.
Its a 256gb Samsung evo card, I didn't change any cluster/allocation settings, so I would assume default.

Thanks BTW. :)
