A few of my games that I installed using goldleaf say that some necessary data could not be found. It will be downloaded now .

The games are my own cart dumps converted from xci to nsp.
My micro SD is fat32, but I did had it exfat before and it had the same problem.

A couple of the games in question are The binding of Issac and Sine Mora Ex.
What CFW are you using to boot them? It also might be an issue with Goldleaf so it might be worth using the original Tinfoil to install them.

Hi, I have an updated (7.0.1) unpatched switch that I use for online games that I would like to hack.
Can I buy any (patched/unpatched) switch, move my account and games over to it and use my unpatched switch as a homebrew/game machine?
Or should I look for another unpatched switch on lower firmware for hacking?
Either or. Just go for whichever is cheaper. Since patched consoles are less useful than unpatched ones, they might be less expensive but don't quote me on that.

i'm looking at buying a switch with serial XAW1000xxxxxx, and firmware 7.0.1, will i be able to play back ups on this? Or should i look for one with a lower fw? Thanks

Hello, thank you for maintining this thread alive. I'm sure it saves many people !

My turn to ask noob questions :)

1. If I get atmosphere and want to install NSP, I'll put them on my SD card and then it needs to be installed.
Where does the install process copy data to ?
Somewhere else on SD, or in switch internal memory (if so what are the size limitation, unless it's just a link) ?

2. I bought a 7.0 switch which asks for an update when I plug my exFat SD card. Is this normal ?
I thought exFat support was added in much earlier updates... Should I do the update (being in 7.0 I don't risk much more trouble I guess) ?

3. If I install a NSP under atmosphere, will it also show up on my ofw ? What if I try launching it from there (no plan to go online) ?

1) Atmosphere requires sigpatches so you currently cannot install game backups at the present point in time. This is sure to change when the new patches get released.

When installing I recommend USB install with tinfoil + aluminium foil or fluffy OR Goldleaf + goldtree or fluffy

2) This is normal. You can do it officially or find the firmware files and use choidujourNX with the latest atmosphere build

3) It will show up but it won't launch because of sigpatches not been present

Awesome thank you for your answers.
Yes I'm aware that I'll need to wait for sigpatches, no problem at all just planning right now :)

My question was more about "when you install NSP, where does the data go ?"...
Does the game data stay somewhere on SD card and installation just makes a link in the switch mem, or does it actually copy NSP data in switch internal mem ?

oh right, sorry misread, when installing a NSP you can choose to install to the nand (internal) or sd card (external) for the latter, the data gets stored in the nintendo folder, after installing the nsp remains where you left it. so if its on the sd card when you install you need to remove it after

Great, thank you so much!

I guess external is safer. Is there any advantage of using internal ?
The original available space is 32GB in internal mem ?

correct, uhhh minutely quicker load times?

most of my games go to sd card and only the ones I really play (zelda) go to internal

Occasionally, but not always, when I install an nsp update for a game I already have installed, a second home screen icon for the game is created.

Is this normal? Should I just delete whichever of the two is smaller? Is there a way to avoid this?

You can, you will just need to downgrade the firmware which is relatively simple with the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX. Its honestly hard finding an unpatched unit but if you can find one with a lower firmware and is still unpatched, then that would be one less step between you and backup launching.

This can occur if the update is from a different region than the base game aka the title ID's do not match. You can check the title ID/region of the update with a myriad of tools like Hactool, Switch Backup Manager, etc.

I am using Hekate to boot Atmosphère 0.8.3.

I will Try Tinfoil later today when I get home from work.
Thanks for the response.
Try using ReiNX and see if the problem persists. ReiNX has more patches than other CFW so more backups work with it comparatively.

How can I get the switch firmware version needed for an NSP? Is there a tool?

(For Yoshi World Demo)

Thanks.
Switch Backup Manager.

Is there a way to update your games online without the risk of getting banned ? Like a dns or sth
That is impossible because you have to connect to Nintendo's servers to update your games online. You're better off downloading their updates in .NSP format and installing them.

Do I still need to have free space upto double size of the game if I use installing through usb or not ?
