So I just 're-hacked' my USA Wii to get it all up to date. Specifically I wanted Priiloader and and I wanted to switch to Cfg USB Loader (ModMii recommends. I had been using GX).

So I got the files from ModMii, put them where they belong, followed all steps.

USB HDD is a WD My Passport 1TB. Formatted FAT32.

Everything's done. Nintendont reads the USB drive just fine.

CFG USB Loader would not load at all from the USB drive. I went back to ModMii and got the setup files for running it from the SD card (not their recommendation, but I'm trying to figure out the issue).

Now CFG USB Loader will start, but it gives me this "Partition: Auto Invalid" + "Partition: Auto Not Found" error.

It then directs me to select a partition, but when I press "A" on Partition 1, nothing happens.

I searched and found a couple people having a similar issue, but the problem was incorrect HDD format. I'm about 99.9 sure it isn't that my hard drive itself is incompatible or not formatted properly - it works fine with Nintendont.

EDIT: well, I tried different partition settings in the config.txt (using the configurator) and still no dice. So I installed USBloaderGX ... works fine. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I haven't deleted the CfgUSBLoader files yet, in case someone knows the fix. Thx in advance if so.

Is there any way to hide gamecube games? I tried using the gui config, it does not have anything about hiding gamecube games.

Hello :)

I have searched a bit on this, but I am lost...

I have Nintendont, GX Loader and CFG Loader installed...

When in Loader GX, I see Wii and GameCube games, and I can start either Wii and GameCube Games, and when loading a GameCube game, GX uses Nintendont and I see the Nintendont splash screen before the game starts.

When in CFG Loader, I see Wii and GameCube games, but only the Wii games start... When trying to start a GameCube game, I briefly see a screen that shows that CFG is currently loading stuff, but then I get a black screen and the GameCube game never start. The LED on the Wii stays green like if the Wii was still on, and then I have to hold power for 5 seconds to reboot the Wii, otherwise I can't do anything anymore.

I am on version 70R65.

Thanks!

Ok, now it works with this version, thanks!

But I may still have a few issues with Nintendont settings...

When setting up Nintendont for the first time, I changed a few settings, like turning on memcard emulation, and then playing a game from Nintendont directly, the memcard setting was kept fine...

Then, when starting a GameCube game from USB Loader GX, the memcard emulation still works fine... BUT, when I access Nintendont directly from HBC, it's like if the settings were back to default.

And now, I started a GC game for the first time from CFG USB Loader, and I get a message saying there is no memory card...

I read in another thread that settings for Nintendont had to be set in CFG if I wanted to launch the GC games from CFG... But I do not find a place to set the Nintendont settings globally. For example, I do not want to set memcard emulation for all my GameCube games 1 by 1 in CFG... This is for the kids, so the simpler, the best.

So, this is where I am now:
  • I can't save my GameCube games when launched directly from Nintendont... I can't get the settings to save anymore directly in Nintendont... Even when I change them, next time I come in, they are back to default.
  • I never found a place to change Nintendont settings in USB Loader GX, but they seem to have been saved properly, because I can save my GameCube games when launching from Loader GX
  • I can't save my GameCube games when launched from CFG USB Loader... I don't find a place to change Nintendont settings globally in CFG Loader.
And this is where I would like to be (if possible):
  • Have the same config for Nintendont, wether launched by itself, launched from GX or launched from CFG...
  • If GameCube game is saved on USB disk when Nintendont launched by either of the 3 ways, be able to access this savegame even if the game is launched in another way the next time (e.g.: Access GC savegames that were saved when lauched from GX even if launched from CFG or from Nintendont)
  • I don't mind having to do the configuration 3 times for the 3 different apps... But I just don't want my settings to be crushed everytime I launch Nintendont in another way. I want to be able to have the same settings regardless of how I launch the game. And I do not want to have to set it for every game 1 by 1...
  • The reason is that I have a few Wii backups that won't start in one loader, but will start in the other loader, so I would like to be able to switch loaders whenever I want and then start any GC or Wii backup and have the same settings and same savegames... Like, to be as simple as possible, I want to tell the kids that if a game doesn't work in one loader, just try the other loader and then maybe it will work... But right now I can only get the games to save and the settings to be kept when launching GC games from USB Loader GX...
I don't know, maybe it's not possible, or maybe it's me who doesn't understand properly how the launchers work, but any help would be appreciated.

You could start with a fresh install of every backup loader you have and try again if it works. If that's not the case, then I think it would be best for you to check if there's any leftover dios mios modifications in your Wii. This could be helpful.

If all else fails, re-do your softmod setup following a softmod guide or ModMii. I had something like this happen to me all the time before and doing this helped me fix the problem.

EDIT: Also, are you sure your SD card isn't locked? This may sound silly, but it happens sometimes.

I will double-check for the SD lock, maybe I hit the little plastic switch on the side, but I don't think it's this, because I dumped some saves on the card yesterday with SaveGameManagerGX and it worked... I will also try to re-install from fresh...

I mean, is it something possible to launch Nintendont either by itself or from GX or from CFG and have the same settings regardless of the 3 and access the same savegames from the 3?

Yes, that's the way it works on my Wii. The custom paths should all redirect to Nintendont on all loaders, though. But I assure you that it should work perfectly. I have all three loaders: GX, CFG and Flow (Lite) and they all function as intended.

directly from Nintendont's OP:
:blank:Settings

The options available from Nintendont menu can also be set directly from an USBLoader's interface.

If you launch Nintendont from The Homebrew Channel you can access the Setting by pressing the B button before launching a game.
The selected options will be saved and restored on your next launch, but only one setting file is used and will replace your current settings.
If you want to memorize different settings per game you need to use an USBLoader as user interface.

but you will need to start a game (and properly exit?) before the setting is saved.

CFG haven't been kept up with Nintendont changes so don't expect it will function perfectly.

usbloadergx passes arguments directly to Nintendont bypassing Nintendont's config file by default and it saves the global/per game settings on its own.
Make sure you use the latest revision of usbloadergx and Nintendont for the matching configurations. I think there is a setting in usbloadergx to save the changes to Nintendont. Cyan would be the best person to ask.
There is no per game setting in Nintendont itself.

Oh, I see. I didn't understand very well his question, I thought that he was mainly talking about having the savegames load on all three loaders (and having global options on said loaders individually). Sorry for any misinformation

@SpaceFunction

You understood me fine! I would like to always have the same settings in Nintendont however I access it, but this is mainly for a matter of savegames... I did not have time to re-install everything yet, been busy... I'll keep this updated as soon as I can :)

@tswntk

Thanks for more infos... I did not know I had to start a game in Nintendont for the settings to save. Still, I will try to re-install everything to the latest versions. I may end up just pointing the GameCube path to an empty folder in CFG Loader, so this way CFG would load only Wii games and I could access my GameCube games from Loader GX and use CFG as a backup only for those Wii games that won't start in Loader GX.

BRB with more updates ;)

Ok... So I have re-installed GX, CFG and Nintendont...

At the beginning, I could go from Nintendont to GX and the settings and savegames were kept fine. As soon as I launched a GameCube backup in CFG, then Nintendont started acting funny... Meaning when I went to Nintendont, it's like my settings disappeared, plus it always insisted in auto-loading the last game I launched from CFG Loader... And it's like the settings had disappeared in Nintendont. However, I still can access my savegames from GX Loader. And there appears to be an option in CFG to activate memory card emulation, but it is "per game" and I don't want to set it for every game....

So, I will just stop using CFG for Nintendont/GameCube...

Can anyone think of a way for my GameCube backups to be hidden in CFG Loader? I searched the options to change the GameCube directory and point it to an empty directory, but there doesn't seem to be such an option... What I would like is to only show the Wii backups when in Configurable USB Loader...

Where can I get latest version? cfgusbloader.ntd.homelinux.org dont load anymore.
https://gbatemp.net/download/configurable-usb-loader.35599/ - I'm not sure it's the last one (I remember finding a newer one, but it didn't work right) - it's certainly newer than the Google Code ones :)

Can anyone think of a way for my GameCube backups to be hidden in CFG Loader?
Perhaps you could go through it with an hex editor and change the appropriate mentions of "games" (the folder) to "gamez" or same-length equivalents?

Or just convert your games to CISO with wit: less space, equal (in theory) compatibility, and (for now) not supported in CFG ;)

Oh, thank you for this answer! These are 2 good ideas, though I may not know enough about HEX editors to do the first option without breaking anything ;)

The CISO solution seems to be good. GameCube games would show up in GX, but whenever a Wii game doesn't work in GX, I could use CFG and not have all my GameCube games display, only the Wii games would be there.

Thank you!

I'm testing a Western Digital 10TB MyBook for use on the Wii and would like to know if anyone here is SUCCESSFULLY using a large GPT NTFS 4TB, 5TB, 6TB, 8TB or 10TB hard drive with Cfg USB Loader?

I already have 4TB, 8TB & 10TB drives that are working on all 3 loaders that I changed over from GPT to MBR formatted as FAT32. 4TB is 32k, 8TB is 64k & the 10TB is 256k clusters. BUT, after all these years are any of the loaders working with these larger drives in the GPT NTFS format?

I'm going to run my own tests in the GPT NTFS format through different cluster sizes and if no success will try going through different cluster sizes in the GPT FAT32 format. My goal is to see if I still have to keep changing my drives from GPT to MBR to work.

If you have a drive that's working would you be kind enough to share your drive information with me:

-Manufacturer:

-Confirm it's GPT not MBR:

-Format (NTFS/FAT32/Other):

-Cluster size (4k/32k/Other):

-Anything else you think might be useful:

No, needs to be MBR and fat32. I've run a 10TB drive in a Samsung/Maxtor case (D3 Station, you can get them on e bay).
