Hacking Configurable USB Loader

No, needs to be MBR and fat32. I've run a 10TB drive in a Samsung/Maxtor case (D3 Station, you can get them on e bay).

Well just for the fun of it and to keep my OCD happy I'll probably run through things anyways. It won't take long to reformat and change the cluster size 5 or 6 times.

Then I'll change it to MBR and play through the NTFS & FAT & clusters sizes again to see what's working, well beside the FAT32 256k I have my other one set to.

If anything else works I'll post an update.

Very few hard disk cases support MBR drives > 2TB.

The Samsung/Maxtor D3 Station cases do.

That's good to know.

In discussing it over the years it seems I just got lucky by making Western Digital my drive of choice. While everyone else was having issues trying to get larger drives working I was able to with little problem because WD uses a pretty good drive controller in their external cases.

This is the Configurable USBLoader Mod v70r78.11. I use it actual and it works 99,99% with my games.I mainly use USBLoaderGX and if sometimes a game not works this one comes in.

This is still my favorite loader. Here is the version I use and was the last one done that I know of, CFG Loader v71beta51t3.

I've included my configuration files which you can edit as desired. I force cIOS249 using base 56 (most of the time d2x-v10-beta52 & sometimes d2x-v8-final) and my external WD 4TB, 8TB & 10TB drives have no problem with it. I have a few Wii's so my setup tends to vary from time to time plus I'm still testing things for my ultimate setup. I also have some custom settings in it you might want to edit set as follow:

-Device: ASK (lets you select game off of USB or SD before going all the way in to the loader)
-Cheat codes: sd/codes
-Covers: sd/covers
-Music: sd/music
-Saves: sd/saves

While the directories for the above items are included in this rar they are empty. You'll find most of these commands in all 3 locations because it just seemed to work better for me getting it to work and fire up the larger hard drives:

-sd/usb-loader/config
-sd/usb-loader/settings
-sd/apps/usbloader_cfg/config

Getting a working setup almost impossible! The problem I have is that I have a WiiU formatted USB for my WiiU games and all my vWii stuff runs off the SC Card. But, CFG USB loader hangs (with v71beta51t3, it says "Mounting device, please wait (60 second timeout) and then just hangs) when it encounters a WiiU-formatted USB drive. I've tried lots of versions of CFG USB Loader.

If I remove the USB drive before loading CFG USB Loader, it loads fine.

If anyone knows of a way to have all the vWii/GC stuff on SC card and all the WiiU stuff on USB without having to remove the USB drive whenever I want to play Wii / GC games off the SD card, do say. USB Loader GX can't read the SD card and Wiiflow it too crashy.

USB loader gx does not play games on SD card, only Wiiflow and Configurable loader v70 read games on SD card.

Hi @jeannotte thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that version also hangs if I plug in the WiiU USB drive.
I'm guessing that CFG USB Loader just doesn't work with a WiiU USB drive and I'll have to keep plugging the USB drive in an out depending on if I want to play Wii or WiiU games.
(Or I could try to find a stable version of Wiiflow?!)

If you use a USB key (often black screen, or does not work), prefer an external hard drive format in FAT 32 and everything will be fine.

Thanks for the reply. I got a usb stick to replace my usb drive because I don't like tons of crap hanging out the back of my WiiU!

Re wiiflow, yes that version appears to be stable.

You do realize not every "cheat" is to make the game easier, but QOL improvements, such as in skyward sword to stop the massive game breaking bug that kills 20+ hours of progress? Or another one that stops Fi from popping every other minute?

YOU GUYS,...one thing that I found that seemed to be the answer to A LOT of my loading issues, make sure your partition is set to ACTIVE.

FAT32, the cluster size,...all that, yeah it makes a difference too. But once I set the wbfs partition (wherever your games are located) to ACTIVE, my loading issues all but disappeared. Now it's just a game here and there that won't load bcuz of IOS configuration.
