So my friend has a New 2DS XL on the latest firmware with Luma 3DS. Everything works, but when he opens opens Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, the game crashes after the Nintendo 3DS loading screen.

Here's what it appears on the 2DS:

Any help would be appreciated.

Probably a bad dump, look for another copy online.

I see... Thanks! I'll let my friend know.

Try turning off ARM 11 exception handlers in Luma boot options and see if it works after.

Hmm... It might be that, cause another game (Pokémon X) also crashes with a somewhat similar error.

Was this solved. I'm experiencing a similar error.

I had the same issue with a few games and I managed to fix this using the "LumaLocaleSwitcher.cia" to change the game's language and region and match these with the CIA file you've installed. Is the region and language of the game you've installed the same as of your console?

I have a Japanese 3DS (old) and I have EUR and USA games installed.

Hope this works for you.

After the quadruple reformat:
- Restored data.
- Fantasy Life cia worked.
- Alpha Sapphire was working already and still does.
Omega Ruby seems to fail to copy into the card 5/6 times (Verify fails). And when it did copy, it finished installation and came up with the following error.

It was the first cia that I had installed that worked on this card. Later had to format the card and restore it to the original state before it was installed after which it has failed consistently. I still have my brother's save for it from checkpoint, but I don't think this is working out for me. Any suggestions?

What did H2testw reported when checking the hardware condition of your empty SD card?

Edit - By the way, reinstalling a game title's CIA (00040000XXXXXXXX) also permanently erases its save (00000001.sav).

I think it said test complete without errors, delete the files or something like that.

I saved it using Checkpoint. I assumed I could restore it later?

Good. Just double checking. Lots of people tend to skip that important part, which tends to bite them in the ass later.

Yes, the save can be restored. Some people don't backup their saves + extdata with a save manager. They end up reinstalling all their games without knowing that'll delete all their savedata.

Check if your copy of Pokemon Omega Ruby.cia is an intact dump.
  • GodMode9 (v1.9.1 or newer) → press (A) on Pokemon Omega Ruby.ciaCIA image options...
    • CIA checker tool<A> yes
    • Verify file
You'll want Verification: passed or Verification success.

If you see Verification failed, you will need to replace this with a clean copy. Type in "omega ruby" in the search bar found on the left at www.advanscene.com. While this game is region-free, it does have several regional releases with different CRC-32 hashes. You can check a file's hash value by installing 7-Zip and right mouse clicking the .3DS file → CRC SHA.
***

If that converted .3DS → .CIA also fails to install, fix the Nintendo 3DS folder as seen in these listed example threads.
