I looked around but wasn't able to find any updated discussion to help me. I've got a 4TB External Hard drive to load games from, but SX OS isn't reading any of the .NSPs or .XCIs when it scans. It's a WD Passport drive with a USB-C port, and I've tried plugging it to the switch through the dock and to the switch itself in portable mood--no matter what, no luck.

Anyone know any fixes? It's formatted to exfat. Not sure what I did wrong.

Also--there's still no way to install NSPs to the USB HDD like it's a microsd card, right? All of the threads of people asking were several months old, so I just wanted to check and see if that's in the works or even possible.

Thanks!

i think the max hdd size is 2 tb and make sure that you have your xci files in sxos/xci & nsp in sxos/nsp

and no, you can't install nsp in external storage.

There is no size limit. Some drives just aren't compatible though. Only 1 out of the 3 I tried works.

The thread that I read before posting (same one that was linked to me in this thread) said that the max size has been increased since then. I've read people saying they use 8TB Hard drives. The guy in that thread seemed like he just used a different drive but I'd like to avoid buying a new one if possible.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Yeah, I read that thread before posting, but it didn't have a definitive solution. That guy partitioned his drive even though he didn't need to and ended up just using a different one instead. If I need to get a different USB drive entirely I can, but I'd prefer to not have to--I'd at least like to know why the one I have isn't working so that I don't risk buying another incompatible one.

If you're using Mac OSX to transfer files to the external HDD, and are putting files into folders, then there are ownership issues with the folders present on the HDD. If you want SX OS to see your files and folders, use the following command from the command line:

Code:
sudo chflags -R arch /Volumes/WriteNameOfYourHDDVolumeHere

Is your partition set to Primary?
Only after doing this, I could get my Hdd to work with SX OS.
Sorry for my english, by the way.

Isn't the USB support only supported in the beta build of SX OS atm? Didn't see anything posted about him using the beta version. If you are ignore this lol.

I'm currently using the beta build with my 2TB USB drive with no issues.

No, the latest 2.5.2 stable release has USB support.
