I am interested in downloading custom firmware to my Switch, and I understand that in doing so my console and/or account may be banned from online use. But my question is does anyone know how to download Freeshop onto the Switch? I found this YouTube link that demonstrates what free shop looks like on the Switch, but doesn't explain how to download it:

In the description of this video is also this link, but once again with no explanation on how to use it:
https://github.com/AnalogMan151/FreeShopNX

If anyone knows of a way to download a free shop, or any form of downloading free games directly through the system without having to remove the SD card or use a computer every time I want to download a new game, help would be appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Nintendo updated their application authorizations for Nintendo switch and 3DS. If you attempt to pirate any game and go online in it, you would most likely get banned immediately.

I'm fine with the online ban, I mean obviously I would prefer to be able to play online and not have to worry about that. But I guess my other question is if free shop is gone, is there any other form of downloading free games? Even if that means needing to use a computer?

It's possible but not nice to do since it's piracy. NSP and XCI can be downloaded and installed. NSP through Tinfoil and XCI converted to NSP if the encryption keys are provided (or running SX XCI installer/beta XCI installer).
For installing NSP through Tinfoil you can use the SD card, you can use network install (which uses FTP) or you can use USB install.

Not only it gets you banned from online play but it also bans you from downloading anything including trying to use a freeshop tool. Good luck using it for a week

I don't particularly care about that either. The only thing I care about is the games. But the prices of them are ridiculously high. I used to think 3DS games were expensive, but now Switch games are 50% more expensive. It's insane.

As a person who owns two switch(one original) and another with cfw i can confirm that in my country the prices of the games are ridiculously expensive. I mean, buying like 5-6 games (nintendo games only) you can buy a secondhand nintendo switch.

You do care, because if you can't download anything, you can't download anything.
But we don't care about your excuse why you should pirate.
As already said, you are too late mate. No longer is it just open an app and click download. The way of doing it now is not public.

Games aren't expensive. It's only if you got a shitty job and got too many bills to pay. Of course you have to be one of those users who is late to the Switch hacking scene. Anyone from the 3DS hacking scene really shouldn't be asking for much when it comes to the Switch. It hasn't been 2 years yet and all you want is to pirate games and accept a permanent ban on a hackable Switch that would cost $300 on eBay just for the tablet only. I'd sell mines but I don't wanna miss out

EB Games here,

Breath of the Wild - 90 bucks
Pokken - 90 bucks
Xenoblade 2 - 90 bucks
Bayonetta 2 - 90 bucks
Octopath - 90 bucks

You get the point. 5 times 90, 450.

Bought my missus' Switch from EB a couple months back for 360 brand new.

you must be paying a lot of tax for a game then
Oh we get shafted on games hardcore. PS3 games for the first few years were 120 dollars (!!!) and the console was a solid grand for a good long while. This is why I was a PS2 and PSP kid until the end of 2011 when I lucked into a PS3.

Mind you, you're an absolute fool to pay full retail here, shit gets cleared hella quick and hella cheap at just about every department store. Picked up a copy of Hyrule Warriors for a friend today in Target, 30 bucks.

Eshop exists.
eShop is literally the same price. Some games are even 10 bucks more than the physical RRP.

Switch is not region locked, so nobody is stopping you from buying games from different countries/regions. Set it to US and create US account and have fun with cheap games.

Can't really argue that one, can I.

Last I checked though, you had to pick up currency cards for that region online though, which is a bit of a hassle and a half, but yeah, if I didn't shop the deals at physical shops, and was digital only, I would definitely have set mine up as being in Canada or something, they supposedly have slightly lower prices than the US shop when taking tax into consideration.

Bigger problem then too, is storage. I got two 200gb SD cards from a friend as a gift and I'm already alternating between the two. I mean, I own well over 100 digital games but still.
