Thanks for writing back so fast man, much appreciated. So my backup is on 5.1 and my current firmware is 5.1

So i wont need to restore boot, right?
You don't need to. The only other change applied to boot0/boot1 is AutoRCM.

No i dont want to buy the hardware just the software key. i was reading that on their website you can buy the license key if didint get the dongle[/QUOTE]Their resellers tend to sell both the SX Pro and the SX OS license by itself.

Complete noob here. I have a hackable(XAW10037) switch running on 5.1.0 official firmware. I also bought ns-atmosphere from ali-express. I would like to run homebrew and backups on my switch as well. where do I start? there are so many tutorials and firmware that honestly confuse the crap out of me. Thanks in advance.

I feel like this is currently the best guide out there.

Seeing as talk of SX OS and ReiNX are forbidden in the RetroNX server on Discord, I thought I'd ask here.

Is RetroArch no longer supported on ReiNX and SX OS? Or do they just want us silent about them?

people have been banned left and right for pretty much everything except backing up the NAND before hacking the console, staying offline, and restoring that clean NAND prior to going online.
Damn, that's actually really upsetting :T that's a bit of a process to go through every time I'd want to go online... And I'd ask about an emuNAND solution to get around that, but I've heard that's pretty much an insta-ban? Or has someone found a way to do it that doesn't do that anymore?

SX OS is currently the only CFW that supports EmuNAND but so far no one has been banned for using it...yet. Atmosphere is also working on implementing EmuNAND but there is no ETA on when that will be completed.

When did the emuNAND roll out? (As in how much time has there been for people to be not-banned?)

Ive read and gathered so much information here and elsewhere, thank you. I think i have a plan of attack and id like some advice/answers.

If i decide to pay for SX OS has anyone had experience loading from a newer android model such as a pixel 2 that has a usb c port itself using usb c to usb c? I dont want to buy a dongle when i have my phone available to me pretty much all the time.

Lets assume i dont really care about getting the console banned as i dont ever play nintendo exclusives online.

If any of the following is incorrect, please direct me to a better solution.

T/F

1. Using SX i am able to load .xci directly from sd card or hdd plugged into dock, and this feature is not available on any free cfw. Assume i already have a crap-ton of these and just wanna throw them on a large hdd, then bring a few on the road here and there.

2. SX is the only proper sd card emunand..

3. If my kid hops on and turns it on, without auto-rcm activated it just boots right to normal fw and they can play straight from the carts i buy.

4. I think someone answered this for me, but i want to make sure. If this console is banned and my kids want to play each other in a game like mario kart locally on separate consoles, it doesnt matter because i dont need nintendo server to do this, and the banned console cant effect the status of the clean one.

TIA

Jay

Hello

I am trying to get PSX emulation running and having a hard time.

I have a 5.1 switch with SX OS.
Retro Arch installed with PCSX-ReARMed r22 6683c5e installed
I have all 3 scph's required (I assume so because it says (!)Present, Optional, scph-etc.etc for all 3 in Core Information))
I have a iso which i converted into .bin.cue format but everytime i try to load it. My switch freezes on the home menu with nothing but white and the line at the bottom.

Any ideas? I got the core from sdsetup.com

this is my post from this page and I'm still having trouble getting this to work.

I pressed 1 to install and nothing happens. I have the file in the nsp folder that came with the zip and I do have the correct driver installed. Did I somehow miss a step, install python library says everything is installed.

edit
about the update zip file, where do I put all these tinfoil files, the nro file in the sd card but what about the rest of the zip. maybe that will make this work for me, if I use these files.

Edit
I think I realized what I was doing wrong but I’ll have to wait till I get home to check. I believe I’m really supposed to put the updated tinfoil file or files in the folder that came with the zip file. Can’t really remember but I recall seeing a tinfoil.nro file there.

Just seen this, don’t really know what’s going on with the usb thing but I recently switched to fat32 format and been trying to reinstall smash, I think that 5.1 patch update was the reason my game got corrupted, never going to install all for that game again because the dlcs installed first before I found out I couldn’t use the 6.2 update.
Thank you gbatemp related posts section. Hopefully this works out.

Edit
Ended up getting tinfoil to install from usb.

How to merge splited NSP?Before i used to install nsp via sd now via USB but my nsp are splitted and aluminumfoil wont recognize it. I want to reinstall my games but some of them are splited.

I'm pretty sure that doing that doesn't require the Switch to be online, It's via bluetooth, someone correct me if im wrong.
My worry is if when trading Pokemon, the one that goes into the phone carries the switch ID and is sent to Nintendo do check if the console has that game and if not, it gets banned.

Morning! I get a Switch (second hand) that came with version 6.0.1 ReinX installed. The previous owner barely used it so sell me for a fair price, but he didn´t knew anything about NAND, backups and else.
What did I do to update it, get the safer and better CFW, block updates, change, if recommended, the ReinX CFW, and other hints?

Thanks!!
