I could be wrong but I thought no games needed firmware above 5.1. Smash Bros Ultimate only needs 5.1 and it just came out (officially) last Friday.

What specific games are asking you to be above 5.1 @Guivas73

Did you try deleting your internet settings? You can't use them on 5.1 anyway.

Are you sure there's not a start software option? Usually a game will ask you to update but you can just choose start software and ignore the update.

if you installed some newer updates, they might require higher firmware to play now. or maybe you installed them with the ignore fw command before? some games that want firmware 6.0 actually run fine on 5.1, as long as you install it with the ignore fw option.

there's a million topics about it you can google.
basically, nintendo implemented exfat in a weird way and while it works for their own system, homebrew has a tiny chance to corrupt files during any read and write process and a large chance to corrupt on system crashes and untimely exits (i.e. pressing the home button when running homebrew).
fat32 is a more robust filesystem with a much much smaller chance to corrupt. but it comes with a 4gb file size limit
So I installed the base game through usb and I

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

So this is the method I'm using and correct me of I'm wrong or theres a better workaround. I'm on 5.1 using Fat32 and I just started using usb installer with Tinfoil. I'm using usb installer to install my base games because the files are to big to just copy over but as for the updates I'm taking out the sd card and putting them in the NSP folder for tinfoil because when I do it that way I have the option to ignore the firmware install. Is there a way to ignore the firmware when I'm installing through the usb?

I have a faulty memory but I could have sworn once you start the usb install you press a then you choose sd card or nand then it asks if you want to ignore firmware.

The reason FAT32 won't store your large .nsps is because it's limited to a 32 bit file size which is around a little under 4 gigabytes, which means one file can't be larger than that

To sum this up, your big games wouldn't play because the archive bit on their NCA folders was reset when you copied them to FAT32. If you had simply set the archive bit on those folders again, everything would be fine. As for why you're getting the message to update, you need to install the updates for the games too, they remember what the last update was even when you remove them, so you need to update them to at least that version to play them again.

Not for usb install, I'm just bought to the next screen to ready it up that's about it
