Team-Xecuter Presents SX OS v2.3 BETA

TX is on roll, release after release, and today's big release is brand-new SX OS v2.3 BETA
SX23.jpg

As you read thru TX's announcement below, you will quickly see that is jam-packed with all the features you have been requesting recently like SD EmuNAND and USB Homebrew, so check it out below:
Your favorite superheroes from Team Xecuter are back with another SX OS update.

In v2.3 beta of SX OS we have some exciting new functionality that you, the community, has been requesting a lot. As you know, we value your feedback and support.. so your wishes are our command!

Let's have a look at the changelog:
  • SD emuNAND support
Since the introduction of our emuNAND feature we got a lot of comments about our initial decision to make the emuNAND data live on the actual system NAND. After lots of hard work we are happy to say we now have a workable solution for storing your emuNAND partition data on your microSD card. This has the upside of not using up any space on your Switch. In order to use the new microSD emuNAND system you will *not* have to format your microSD card. Simply enter the TX boot menu by holding Volume-+ while powering on your switch. Head into the options menu and select emuNAND on the left. Users of our existing emuNAND solution will see an option to migrate their existing emuNAND data. The migration process also cleans up the old emuNAND from the system NAND. Painless! We're interested in hearing your feedback about this exciting new functionality.
  • The 'Emutendo' folder
In addition to the new microSD emuNAND system we also introduce the 'Emutendo' folder on your microSD card. As you've probably noticed, the Switch saves various data to a 'Nintendo' folder on your microSD card. To completely decouple this data between your Original Firmware and your EmuNAND enabled firmware we have made EmuNAND enabled systems use this differently named folder. If you want keep using your old SD card data with your emuNAND, simply copy/rename the 'Nintendo' folder to 'Emutendo'.
  • Added more directories to scan for content
By popular demand we have added yet another list of subdirectories that will be scanned on your microSD card (or USB harddisk) for XCI/NSP/homebrew. The directories that have been added are:
    • – /sxos/updates
    • – /sxos/dlc
    • – /switch/updates
    • – /switch/dlc
  • Homebrew menu takeover of any title by holding R
Homebrew is usually launched from either the TX menu or the Homebrew Launcher menu. Both of these applications run as an 'applet' on the Switch. Applets do not have access to all of the system's memory, and thus any homebrew apps or games launched from here are affected by this as well. The only way to allow full use of the system's memory was to build and install homebrew NSP files. But now we have added another way to give homebrew applications full memory access! You can now hold the (R) button while launching any regular title, and this will launch the Homebrew Launcher Menu. Any homebrew launched from here will run with the same capabilities as a regular Switch game/app. Enjoy!
  • Loading homebrew from USB
More good news for homebrew lovers. You can now copy homebrew NRO files to your USB harddisk as well, and launch them directly from our SX OS menu.
  • Stability improvements
Overall stability of many components has been improved. This includes LayeredFS and USB incompatibilities. We have also fixed a bug which would prevent people from launching more than 32 titles.
  • libusbfs update
Last but not least a small update for developers. We've squashed a small bug in libusbfs pertaining the stat() function. If you had issues with this, grab an updated copy of libusbfs from our website!
The year 2018 is entering its final months. That does not mean we're taking a break from working on our beloved SX OS though. And yes, also those new 'unhackable' consoles are high up on the agenda. Don't worry, we will deliver.

Keep sending your feedback and ideas, they're very welcome.

See you all in the next update!

That's definately not normal, it took about an hour to do it completely for me. Unless you're using an 1MB/s SD Card :)

I hope SX OS starts to now implement EMUNAND OS patching so users and easily upgrade compatible Switch versions. These features could also transition to future API addins when Switch hacking becomes more customised to combat Nintendo's anti freedom stance.

On page 6 of this thread so far.
Looking for an indication of how long its meant to take creating Emunand on MicroSD.
Going on to about an hour now, it says "Dumping full raw nand... Please wait...3%"

Depends on the speed of your SD card but with my 200 GB Sandisk Ultra (class 10; A1) it took around 1.5 hours

Hi everybody,

I asked the question earlier when 2.3 beta launched but since naturally it is now out for a longer period of time : what are your guys thoughts on stability of this release? Is it better than 2.2 beta? I am not really interested in using emunand anyways just want to make sure it's more stable than 2.2.

Any help shall be greatly appreciated!

No. As soon as you boot into cfw, it will generate a licence-request.dat Go from there

I see, thanks. I was thinking it'd boot into Horizon for that, but it indeed seems like it doesn't leave the SX bootloader. So there should be no need to restore the NAND backup I made prior to beginning the EmuNAND setup (it's a clean machine).

Yes course 2.3beta is better than 2.2 you should update if your using 2.2beta else if it wasn’t better than 2.2 why would TX bother releasing it. It doesn’t matter if you’re not using it for the new features there will always be better stability and improvements made to a new update.

I have sysnand 6.2 and emunand 6.1 with 8 burnt fuses (6.1 expects 7 burnt fuses).
I can use 6.2 sysnand without problem. But when I boot emunand 6.1, getting into sleep mode freezes the device.
To avoid burning fuse, I tried to install autorcm right after sysnand update, but SX OS and hekate bootloader was not working sysnand 6.2.
So 7 burnt fuse + sysnand 6.2 combination seems impossible for now..

I trusted this and now I'm screwed.. Sleep mode is broken in emunand!
what reason could you possibly have to need to be on 6.2? I don't understand all you guys messing up your system updating. My switches don't even know my wifi's ssid...

new beta releases do not necessarily bring improved stability

new stable releases supposedly do

beta releases bring new features that need beta testing, to be later implemented on stable releases

Short question, just got today my First 2.5" HDD for my switch. Everything is working fine, but what i dont like is - when i put the switch in Standby, the harddisk shut down too, but after this the harddisk starts again and stops again, so there is always some power on the USB Plug.

Is there a way to fix this? Im still on 5.1 and 2.3B

Sorry, my bad! I must of missed the section that explains about stability improvements to the new update.

Finally I was able to build & test a clean Nand with this new update:

How to make a clean nand:

Make a Copy of Boot0.bin, Boot1.bin - don't touch/edit these.

full.00.bin - jump to address 53362000 - edit everything under this address - make bytes 00
full.01.bin - full.06.bin - change all bytes to 00
full.07.bin - from - address 00 to 47cdfdff - change all bytes to 00 (don't touch anything under 47cdfdff).

Now copy all modded files to sxos - emunand folder and boot into emunand.
Open ChoiDujourNX and update emunand to 6.1.0 (ex-fat) - and in the options uncheck prevent fuse burning (auto rcm), check System initialize (full factory reset). Then start installation.

Now shutdown the switch and remove the sd card - make a backup of emunand folder - this is now your clean nand you can restore from.

First before restoring - you can test the nand works fine by booting into emunand.

Compressed nand using winrar - 745MB, which can easily be stored online as a backup :-)

hi, i followed your great instructions, only i take a black screen when i boot with the new emunand with modded files (after copy all files modded on sxos, and before to use ChoiDujourNx), an idea maybe ?
but with my original emunand, it works perfect..
my Switch is already with 6.1 fw

as per your own previous statement regarding the beta release, "there will always be better stability and improvements made to a new update".

according to TX Team themselves, your information is incorrect.

this is extracted from their announcement of their first beta release, explaining the differences from beta to stable:

"As of today, we will be distributing two versions of SX OS. One is the "stable" release which has been extensively stress-tested and the other is the optional "beta" version of SX OS which comes with new functionality that needs to go through a thorough acceptation phase before it will be rebranded as the current stable version".

is anyone else having emunand issues ? i've tried everything but nothing would work , i created an emunand for my 4.1 , it launched just fine , till i updated it to 5.1 using choixdujournx , now it wouldn't work anymore , replacing boot0 and boot1 wouldn't work either , it keeps giving me a blue screen , any idea ?

Are you using a exfat card? If so, when you update to 5.1 did you include exfat support?

Seems I cant create an emunand on my SD.
it takes very long to get to 10% whether its exFAT or FAT32.
I used 2.2.1 to create an internal one and try migrating with 2.3 as well, no dice.

Im wondering if its my SD card thats the problem.Unfortunately dont have another one I can test with.

What do you guys use to format 64GB+ cards?

Want ur cfw to be good? add the option to keep emunand on another partition like on 3DS or Wii U, is better than than risk all the SD data every second we use it

Hopefully as users are pointing it out, they could implement partitioning in the stable release.

Would you please please be able to send me the 2.2.1 beta as I am unable to find it and need to boot into an emunand created on the sysnand to enable exfat so then I can move the emunand to sd card using 2.3
