So, in the light of the recent SXOS SD Emunand development, what do NOT YET BANNED people like @Aniblaze , @datnodude , @LucioDragon , @Ch0pst1x and @Elliott1986 reckon they do now? Continue with safe XCI gaming or update to SD Emunand for some expanded features? I just went back a couple of pages to gather some peeps who have been using SXOS with the least possible tinkering: Absolute clean sysnand, only using XCIs, never been online, no layerdfs, no devmenu, no installed NSP:s, no homebrew... What are your thoughts? I am quite satisfied with this method myself, especially when there has been development in the area of nsp>xci conversion and repacking xci+updates+dlc. But I do eventually want to expand the homebrew area with emulation and the like, so SD sysnand sounds interesting. I'm gonna hold on for some bit however, to learn from the experience of others.

Use SD emunand. Nintendo will eventually add telemetry that detects XCI usage, homebrew. SD emunand + Stealth mode + Clean SD card on OFW should be 100% safe. BTW I'm also still not banned.

seems you have the same approach I'm planning, currently waiting on delivery of SX Pro to begin. I also plan to do everything through the EMunand.
How have you been updating .xci's up until now, when required?

thanks

Can you get banned for simply using homebrew (save backups), and not playing .xci or .nsp games?
Yes, multiple people were already banned for doing so as denoted with (Homebrew) next to their names. You can and will get banned for hacking your console, regardless if you pirate, use CFW, homebrew, etc.

I have been using Atmosphere exclusively since 0.7.0 while remain online without blocking any Nintendo servers. My console is not banned (for now) and most online functions work (eshop, system update). No NSO subscription so I cannot test online play.
I use homebrew mostly for game save backups and texture modding. All my games are obtained legally.
I assume for now Nintendo does not care if you don't pirate games?

Cannot post image links but if interested visit my imgur album which contains a picture of Your system is up to date. screen with Version 6.1.0 (AMS 0.7.5) and a picture of working eshop

I haven't. Now however, there are tools for combining base game with updates to xci

I plan on getting two switch tablets just for that. Please update us if you get banned.

So far no ban. I even got myself the 7 Day Free Online Service and played Online with the NSP Mon. Everything works so far. I guess they can't Ban someone for receiving a "Legal" Mon via Trade (Hacked by PKHex or NSP) as long your Switch is Hax Free. Because there is no guarantee your Trade Partner is using legal Mons, legal copies of the Game or a Hax Free Switch. I'll update if anything happens though.

Additional Comments
Can't resist myself to not connect online never anymore, so deleted all the cfw on my sd, formated it and formated my switch like 3 times through "format data" and "recovery mode" to be sure there won't be any error logs, so yes if anyone is wondering, fomating your switch and sd card won't help you from the ban and this was insta ban, now that i know that i'm banned i can fuck off myself with the online and play offline forever. :)

To add a personal anecdote to the cautionary tale, just bought 2nd Switch after first got banned, ran ReiNX once and used it to copy a save of Splatoon 2 to the new console, and didn't touch anything unofficial beyond that. Just received my ban. only lasted 4 days in total. RIP.

It seems likely that Nintendo would add some sort of save tampering detection for online games.

@Draxzelex

I found Switch with 3.0.2 for sale and if I access to homebrew to import my old saves and use clear logs, so remove homebrew and clean the SD, before update to latest firmware so I will be fine with no ban?

The detection about homebrew uses didn't start until after 5.0 or 6.0, I think so.

First, clearing error logs can flag you for a ban. Second, without a clean NAND backup, you can't remove traces of CFW/homebrew. And third, while the detection doesn't start until the later firmwares, if you update the console to the latest firmware, then you risk it getting banned anyways.

You'd really think so, but Splatoon has known issues with hackers, and my save was legitimate, taken from a Switch that I had played online with before getting banned, so it should have just looked like I hadn't played for a while and then came back online with the same save again.

It seems like not make any sense to me and most homebrew bans only used access to online (WiFi setting enabled) and eShop simultaneously that wasn’t case for me when I used strictly offline, also I cleared the logs before go to online as you said that clear the logs are dangerous if went online with hack at same time until I unlinked and sold my Switch without any ancknowledge about ban and Nintendo told me that many people tried to unlink had banned Switch. I spent all night to check the ban reports.

I said that homebrew will be used in 3.0.2 to import saves only and remove afterwards, so no hacks will be continued after upgrade to 6.0. Restore clean NAND removes any saves that import?

What about use creport instead of clear logs?

You can't transfer Splatoon saves, they'll flag you immediately. Doesn't matter if its legit, its not from that console and it flags.
