N64 games DO NOT run well. Only SM64 is what I'd consider truly playable. In order to boot N64 games you MUST launch RA in a way that offers full RAM access (NSP or latest hbloader booted through LayeredFS.

Multi-bin games (above 5 bins) almost never work, even when you load the "main" .bin directly. That means RayMan and WipeOut are not playable for the time being.

Aren't you able to load the .cue file in RetroArch? I'm not at my Switch atm, hence the question!

I installed today Retroarch for the first time on my switch, already downloaded assets and all the basics, but when i copy my rom folder into my sd and then put it on my switch i get a file with the folder name of my roms with a size 0, i read arround this thread and someone said i had to format my sd card from extfat to fat32, does that means that if i want to use retroarch i have to forcefully format my sd to the old fat32 format? :(

Forcefully?

Also preferably yes, use fat32 - because no one will help you when you managed to corrupt your filesystem, which happens when writes to the sdcard are interrupted, and fat32 turned out to be more resilient to that. Although your call.

If you copied the folder over from a Mac, thats basically the cause of the issue In which case use an option in hekate to fix the archive bit of the /switch folder (includes subfolders).

If you dont use hekate, and are one of the SX OS morons (sorry, not lovingly), either use a Windows PC, or create the folder using an FTP client, before copying over the files, or hang yourself while trying to follow this thread: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-fix-archive-bit-for-all-sd-files-and-folders.515258/ (You dont want to execute the command for the Nintendo folder - pay attention to that.)

If you didnt copy over your rom folder from a Mac OS machine - something odd is going on (special characrters in the foldername?). As in - you have to figure it out yourself. It isnt related to fat32 or exfat though.

I use ReiNX, i copied the folder using an usb sd card adapter on my nvidia shield, first i created the folder on the root of my sd card and then i copy the roms, its the first time it happens tho, iv never had that issue b4, i guess its because i created the folder on android, ill do it as usual and create the folder on my pc and try again.

About the exFAT, b4 i did it i read the ReiNX site and followed that guide to hack my switch and they recomended exFAT as the preferable file system because it had less corruption, but now u tell me fat32 has less corruption... now i dont know what to do :-(

And one last thing, iv been considering buy the SXOS license these past few days because they r the ones who has an ftp app functional, because i read that the ftpd option out there causes a lot of corruption on sd files and i didnt wanted to give it a try because of that, now u made me wonder and ask if this is true or if i should use that app to transfer my files, or maybe u know a diferent ftp app that works with the switch?

Edit: i created the folder on my pc inside the retroarch folder and now it works, idk if its because i did it on my pc or because i did it inside the retroarch folder but now it works hahaha

FAT32 is the proper filesystem to dodge corruption. Rei is full of shit. FTPD is perfectly functional, SX's FTP is not any better and certainly not worth paying for.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
