If you are running unauthorized software like pirate software or homebrew and connect to internet you can be banned. Switch sends a lot of logs to Nintendo when it connects. If you pirate you has risks. Soon or later it will happen. I got super banned. No big deal. Just have to download updates and system software from web. Best advice is to get a second switch for online play if it is important to you.

Ok then I will update it through the update homebrew app, it

Yeah this is my second system, the homebrew app will update the system OFW and CFW right? I might use another microsd card to update it because the main one is full.

Might not be your case but I was reading that installing custom NSP's (like Retroarchs) is one of the quickest ways to get banned. FYI.

Quick question. Is it safe(er) to create a new profile on the Switch, make it a kids profile or something so it doesn't access the internet, and use only THAT profile for installing NSP files? Like, would the bad ticket info be sent to Ninty when I access eshop from my main account? I feel dumb asking because I give it a .01% chance this hasn't been experimented with yet. Just can't come up with a short and sweet search to give the results I'm looking for...

Specifically, I want to play with an .nsp version of Retroarch. I'm not banned yet, and would like to keep it that way.

No because all User Profiles share the same system files so whatever is stored on the NAND from one User will be transmitted no matter which User Profile you use.

Sigh, I was afraid of that. Thanks for the quick reply! I guess no .nsp retroarch for me then. Have to look up that post natinusala made... but I'm worried it somehow uses layeredfs, and layeredfs is the cause of at least a few bans, is it not (error logs)?

Hi my switch is 5.1 i did a clean backup of NAND before using cfw, but i miss boot1/0 my plan is restore it to play smash bros online, its safe?

Yeah, those don't change outside of firmware updates and AutoRCM. But if you haven't backed them up already, do so now since they are virtually irretrievable otherwise. And make sure they match the firmware of your clean NAND backup.

Ok thanks, i was scared when i read boot1/0 is needed to do a clean backup i thought maybe that contain dirty trace and nintendo could track some ilegal uses.

i feel this thread is irrelivent now cause we know now you screw around with homebrew you'll be super banned or any modification for that matter it's only a matter of time before they can detect through telemitry real emunand/restoring backup nand's

Can you use the eShop on the Switch? N
If you cannot access the eShop, when was the last time/date you were able to? irrelevant as I hadn't tried anywhere near the ban before it happened.

Did you restore a clean hack-free NAND before going online? N (never made on)

Do you get the error code 2181-4008 trying to update your games? Y
Do you get error code 2137-7403 trying to update your system firmware? N
Can you login to Nintendo's website using your linked Nintendo Account? Y
SX OS used? N
Did you make an SX OS EmuNAND with a clean hack-free NAND then stay offline with it? N
Trimmed .XCI? N
Did you connect to the Internet with SX OS and/or to activate the license? N
Did you play any .XCI files online with a certificate/header? N
Do you have a certificate/header ban (look for error code 2124-4025)? N
Lowest SX Version used when Online/Offline (NOT Switch System Firmware)? N
What do you use Non-SX OS LayeredFS for? Backups/file transfer (FTPD)
Did you connect to the Internet with a non-SX OS LayeredFS Inject? N
Played online w/ Non-SX OS Layered FS Injects? N
Did you inject an .XCI certificate using LayeredFS to play online? N
Used DevMenu? N
Installed any .NSP? N
Did you connect to the Internet w/ any .NSP installed? N
Did you play any .NSP installed online? N
Did you perform any CDN/Freeshop downloading with your own Switch's certificate? N
Did you update your .XCI/.NSP games online? N
Did you ever use ReiNX? Y (recieved ban the day after)
Homebrew/non-SX CFW Used? Y Hekate/Atmosphere (no issues for months)
Connect to Internet with homebrew/non-SX OS CFW? Y (by accident on Hekate/Atmosphere with no issue. Used with FTPD on ReiNX and was banned the next day)
Connect to eShop while using CFW/homebrew? N
AutoRCM? N
Did you update your firmware using ChoiDujour or ChoiDujourNX? N
Did you install the exFAT update offline? N
receive-lp1.dg.srv.nintendo.net blocked and/or "Don't Share Usage Information" ticked under "Other Settings"? Y option 2 only
Do you have eclct disabled (look for pm.kip under sysmodules/modules)? N
Do you have creport enabled (look for a folder named 0100000000000036 under titles)? Didn't use that level of access
What firmware(s) were you on when you cleared error logs prior to going online? N
Wi-Fi settings deleted in CFW? N
Console/Account Region(s): US
What device(s) do you use to send payloads with? PC (TegraRCMSmash -> TegraRCMSmashGUI for ReiNX)
Do you enter RCM by bridging pins 9 & 10 together? Used 3d-printed jig to bridge outermost pins

Extra info: I was fine on Hekate/Atmosphere until the start of online services (literally only backed up/restored saves. didn't avoid being online when managing saves, but didn't play games online unless under a normal boot). When Hekate was blocked by a firmware update, I switched to ReiNX and found a working FTPD.nro (on Hekate it would crap out on files sent off the Switch). Received the console-specific online services ban the day after transferring some video captures with FTPD.

SXOS users disagree with you ;)

I appreciate the confidence in the steps I took, but please don't fault me if somethings happens lol.

Of course not! I just thought you had been careful and only used the base software for playing backups, and nothing on the side. What I am doing right now is researching everything carefully before I jump into something I don't know how it works. The only thing a probably want to do when it comes to homebrew is retroarch and scummvm. We'll see.

is 6,1,0 safe for sx or not
I'm on 6.1 so if the question is if it's compatible with sx then yes. Cannot comment on if it's a higher risk for banning though, since I've never been online.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I don't mess with the emuNAND/NAND stuff, and update via fuse burning as normal, so I can't comment on any of that.

Just to be clear, when you have gone online for updates and stuff, you never restored a nand backup prior?

I read before on el otro lado one user banned using a clean backup + emunand... so i think the best way to avoid its as first post said restoring clean nand backup every time when u want go online :(
I feel like this user might have done something other to his system than only using SXOS + XCI. Like (accidentally) going online in a pirated game, install .NSP files, or use homebrew before creating a backup for example. So far the SXOS users that only use it to play XCI and nothing else seem to be safe. I'm including myself here. I've been using SXOS since june, and I have not yet been banned. Only use it to play .XCI, while having my Wifi settings removed, and being in airplane mode. I update my games by removing my SD card, going into OFW, and downloading the latest updates. I do the same for firmware updates. I'm on the latest firmware now, and I'm still good. I've never done a virgin sysnand restore, although I have made one (I just don't like the hassle of restoring my saves).

Trimmed xci, original or both?
