Since, i updated to 5.1 Exfat via Nichi, is my original 5.1 nand backup without Exfat useless now?
And i guess given that i already used cfw on that exfat update, it wouldnt be clean anymore, should i still do a backup but still keep the original 5.1 backup?
And enabling RCM would rid me of having to use the Jig everytime correct, but i would also fuck my battery in the long run by doing that, wouldnt i?

Hello me again :)

Quick newbie question : How do you install .nsp + .xci games on Nintendo Switch ?
Also which type of game extension allows to have the games in the usual library of games instead of going into album ?

Thanks

Hello, needing a little help regarding "restoring" nand/emmc. I did a full backup so my switch has the rawnand.bin, when i tried to restore, i would get this message ""Error (4) While opening backup, continuing." so i need some insight on fixing this issue
It has to be placed in the /Backup/"eMMC Serial Number"/Restore folder
I would like your opinion on something. I have a switch that hasn't been touched yet and not even been in touch with the sx dongle or other cfw. I just dumped the 6.1 nand, that's it. I am giving this switch to the family for Christmas so I won't be using it until then. Do you think I should wait a month longer for maybe ninty to release another fw (given the sx os is still compatible) and team x to maybe release a new version with better emunand, until I do anything, for safety measures?
Higher firmwares are just going to create more issues for CFW. And I don't think TX is going to be releasing another version of EmuNAND, at least not until ReSwitched releases their implementation of EmuNAND.
Good day Guys.

First of all, sorry for my bad english, I am from Germany.

So I read a lot in this Forum, but I still have a Question about my "project".

At the moment I am using Reinx on my Switch with Firmware 6.01 and I am very happy with it. I am using a 3d-printed Jig for launching in Reinx with Tegrasmash Gui.

I just ordered (and received) a "Switchme" internal Modchip from Team Rebug.

So my Question is: Is the following method possible?

1. Activate AutoRCM on my current setup with Reinx Toolkit

2. Installing the Switchme (4 Wire setup "Method 1")

3. Installing Hekate on the Switchme

4. Installing Reinx on the internal SD-Card

So when I Power on the Switch, it should boot into the bootloader Hekate without any Jig and external device (PC, Laptop etc.).

From there on, I want to choose "booting Reinx" or "booting OFW" (AFAIK Hekate gives you those options).

Could anyone tell me, if this is possible?

Thanks in Advance
Yes, it is possible.
Hi all,

I am about to install ReiNX on my Switch. Before I start I have some questions.

1. I plan to remove the Nintendo Account that is linked to the current user profile on the switch. I am not sure if it make sense to create a new user as well (without linking a Nintendo Account) and delete the old one.

2. I want so preserve my current save games and use them on the custom firmware. Is that possible?

3. Do you recommend any other steps to perform before installing ReiNX?

4. I noticed that the first offical Atmosphère custom firmware 0.7.x has been released a few days ago. For me is sounds like that the more stable custom firmware is ReiNX at the moment. Where is the main difference between these custom firmwares?

Thanks a lot
  1. You cannot unlink the Nintendo Account from the User Profile without deleting the User Profile. Nintendo made this change as of firmware 6.0. The only way you may be able to unlink it is by calling Nintendo but that doesn't guarantee they will cooperate.
  2. If you manage to unlink the Account and/or delete the User Profile, your saves may or may not work. I cannot confirm if they work after the Account is gone
  3. Backup the NAND and boot0/boot1 with Hekate
  4. To the end-user, they are functionally identical. Although the official Atmosphere does not have the "signature patches" in ReiNX that allows users to play backups they don't own. ReiNX is also simpler to customize than Atmosphere. However Atmosphere plans to add more features in the future such as EmuNAND while ReiNX has no such plans.
Can someone please tell me how do I update fw if I'm using SX OS? Do I boot into OFW and update it normally? What is the ban risk for doing that?
The safest way to update your firmware is with the homebrew application, ChoiDujourNX.
I think my SD card reader is broken or a pin, what can I do about this?
You may have to send it in to Nintendo for repair. If you don't wish to take that risk because the console is hacked, try sending it to your local repair shop.

If the original NAND backup was made before you hacked the console, it can be used to help prevent you from getting banned if you stay offline with your hacks and restore it prior to going online. And while AutoRCM prevents the need for a jig, it does NOT mess with the battery in the long run no more than without AutoRCM.

.NSP files can be installed with any title manager such as Rommenu, DevMenu, Tinfoil, and dOPUS/n1dus.

.XCI files can be installed with either ZeroTwoXCI or dOPUS/n1dus.

Once either are installed, they are added to the Home Screen.

There's no reason to remove any legitimate content in the NAND unless you want to make the NAND backup as small as possible.
Thank you for your competent reply, as usual. I'm trying to gather as much as possible Infos before hacking my switch, so another question has came to my mind, regarding booting into ofw:
Lets say I enable autorcm in sxos, then turn off the switch and, when turned on, in the RCM menu insert the dongle and press "boot original fw". It is the same exact thing of having autorcm disabled, turn off the switch and, when turn on, boot into ofw?

Not 100% identical because you are booting it through RCM as opposed to without RCM. I would say its about 99% similar.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Didnt know compressed dumps were an option. I'm assuming that's an option that got added to hekate?
By compressed dump, I mean zipping it using 7zip or Winrar. The more installed content, the larger it will be after the compression.

Ah I see. I'm the kind of person that wouldn't trust doing that to my nand dump

1.+ 2. So I simply delete my User Profile on my switch and hope that my save games will work after installing ReiNX. But it´s recommended to unlink any account, right?
3. Is it possible to backup NAND before installing ReiNX? Cause following the guide it will be the finalize step after installing the custom firmware.
4. Okay, I will stay with ReiNX.

Some more question came up:
  • I want to use a an SD card with exFAT file format to have files greater than 4GB. On the other hand I want to use homebrew (like RetroArch) in the future. Can I prepare a second SD card with FAT32 afterwards for using homebrew?
  • How does it work with game updates? Do I have to go online with the switch to get updates installed?

  1. Its only recommended to unlink a Nintendo Account if you have purchases worth saving. In fact, some games only work with a linked Account so its a bit of a detriment to unlink it. And if you wanted to unlink it because you're afraid of it getting banned, Nintendo primarily bans consoles not accounts
  2. You do not install ReiNX. And you can backup the NAND with Hekate
  3. Yes, you can use 2 different SD cards with your Switch
  4. For game updates, you can either risk getting banned by downloading them from your console or you can find them offline in .NSP format and install them with a title manager with Tinfoil, which is included in the ReiNX guide

Quick question.
I downloaded and converted ARMS[v2] (ARMS_v002_NSW-HR) from XCI to NSP using 4NXCI.
It gave me 2 nsp.

Code:
Summary:
Game NSP: 01009b500007c000.nsp
Update NSP: 01009b500007c800.nsp

What is the update?
The game update embedded in the nsp, or an firmware update for the switch?

Its a game update in .NSP format. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but system updates can't be converted to .NSP format.

I just inserted my sdxc (samsung evo 64 gb) with exfat filesystem but the console says i need to update in order to use the sdxc. But i am on 6.0.1 firmware. Why that?

exFAT support is separate from firmware. All firmwares except 1.0 supports exFAT but not immediately; they need to be patched in order to do so. Nintendo only provides those patches for the latest firmware. But ChoiDujourNX allows you to patch any non-1.0 firmware to have exFAT support.
