gamestop gives you like 15 days to return things. that's plenty of time to find out if you can go online. And offload a banned console to some poor sap? Seems like unscrupulous business to me. Kind of a dick move.

If they resell banned consoles without knowing it imagine the rage when people buy them and can't use them
right, because ebay definitely doesn't have any unscrupulous sellers...lolEven so, it's still a hassle. You're better off getting secondhand on eBay.
Banned switches can't factory reset, so would be ineligible for trade in.

I'm actually a Gamestop cluster manager. Our staff are fuckwits mostly, but if they don't factory reset a system at time of trade in, it's first and final. So at least for my nineteen stores, factory resets are the one thing that are consistent. That's the problem, GameStop gives no crap cause when they sell used, they get all the money and not Nintendo, Nintendo only gets money if you buy it new, that's why I never buy any thing used from GameStop.
I bought two N3dsxl's with IPS screens used at gamestop for 140. Manager was nice enough to let me go through their entire stock to find which ones had ips screens. I was a happy customer. That's the problem, GameStop gives no crap cause when they sell used, they get all the money and not Nintendo, Nintendo only gets money if you buy it new, that's why I never buy any thing used from GameStop.
But then again, giving a seller feedback and going through the litigation process trying to get your money back is a hassle. That's what seller feedback is for.
Even with a clean NAND restore they can’t be reset? Is there some fuse burnt or connecting to Nintendo servers required?Banned switches can't factory reset, so would be ineligible for trade in.

Sure that driving to your nearest Gamestop and returning the console you got is less of a PITA.
TBH, if I ever buy a used console I would specifically look for a "banned console" at discount price in some place like ebay.I'd rather just not buy a used console from them.
Connecting to Nintendo is required if the console has been linked to a Nintendo Account. And you can't unlink a banned console. Not sure about a NAND backup/restore actually; come to think of it.Even with a clean NAND restore they can’t be reset? Is there some fuse burnt or connecting to Nintendo servers required?
That depends on the console. Consoles like the Xbox One and PS4 are formatted in store, cleaned up, and sold at store level. Premium consoles like the XB1X and PS4 Pro are always shipped back for refurb mostly to be sent to higher volume stores. Switch's with grey or B/R joycons are mostly resold in store, but with the premium joycons or collectors editions, they're sent back for the same reason.Doesn’t GameStop put used equipment through some sort of refurbishment processes? Or is just cleaned up and stuck in a bag to sell?
what about rajkosto's choidujournx? there's an option to factory reset the switch after writing the firmware.Banned switches can't factory reset, so would be ineligible for trade in.
