I'm trying to update from 3.0.0 with ChoiDuJourNX.
My understanding is that I need to get a copy of a game with an update.
Is it better to get an NSP or XCI?
Also, how to I extract it? Can ChoiDuJourNX extract it for me?
Thanks.
.NSP files don't have firmware updates, only .XCI have them and they can only be extracted with hactool or a derivative. But there are other ways of obtaining firmware updates if you double check the thread (pay attention to any coughing).

Hi, I'm on ReiNX with autoRCM switched on. I've noticed this that if I turn my switch off from the menu, it seems to turn off then automatically switch to RCM mode without me doing anything. So it drains the battery within the day even if i've not pressed anything. Is this normal? I swear I had to press the power button to enter RCM mode after I switched off when I installed first installed ReiNX. I'm probably going to keep it in sleep mode anyway.

Yes, this is normal behavior with a console with AutoRCM and what led many to falsely believe AutoRCM drained battery. Any shutdowns from Horizon using a console with AutoRCM installed will cause it to reboot into RCM. The only way to turn off a console with AutoRCM is to power it off from RCM or, as you suggested, just leave it in sleep mode.

Just as I was losing my hopes and was going to format into Fat32 my new microSD.... an old 16GB card appeared at the bottom of the last drawer I would ever thought one would be :P

Up and running now with ReiNX and firmware 5.1.0 with exFAT support, all updated through ChoidujourNX. I am just happy I got this working without any issues thanks to @Draxzelex guidance and everybody else's support :)

Thank you again !!

What's the deal with Deja Vu?
Like, I know they're keeping under wraps because "muh morals" but how has nobody found the exploit also for this long? It seems fishy that nobody else has found it imo.
Maybe I'm just being salty their holding it hostage but still.

Is devmenu easy to install and is it on 5.1.0? I have been hesitant at first on whether I want it on my console or not but I have decided recently to go ahead and check it out! A link to a thread would be helpful. Thanks in advance! :)

Hackers only release exploits once they've been patched because releasing an exploit before its patched usually just ends up with it being patched, leaving hackers and end-users to use a new exploit which aren't easy to come by. Its also a lot more involved than Fusee Gelee since it involves using a web exploit to load it so it doesn't seem straightforward.

Depending on how you install it, it'll differ. The old way of installing it involved using LayeredFS to swap a title that was currently installed with DevMenu such as Hulu or Pokemon Quest. However there are .NSP variants floating around that can be installed with Tinfoil or the LayeredFS version of DevMenu. Of course since its copyrighted, cannot share any links to DevMenu on here.

Awesome! I managed to find the NSP for it, but the title of the NSP is for 5.0.0, does that still work on 5.1.0?

When I update my switch without burning fuses by entering RCM mode, will I be able to use the latest firmware without burned fuses later on, even if I remove the cfw after updating? Or will this burn the fuses?

I'm considering buying this switch with an almost 1 year use and a 1 year warranty remaining for 240$. Is it worth it? Shoul I aim for lower?
Btw, it has this serial code: XAJ70022234943 wich means its hackable, right?

240 is honestly a good price depending on the state of the device. That serial number is definitely hackable

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And with only keeping it in AutoRCM, I can go online without getting banned?
Nobody still knows exactly when and how you get banned. I'm pretty sure it's known they check logs and review that periodically, but still, nobody knows exactly. There are ways to go online and not get banned apparently, but it still may be a time factor and that method isn't very old yet.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Been debating for hours which to get: 128GB/256GB... How many games can each fit? I also notice that 4 x 128gb = 256GB in terms of price! Could I just copy the necessary files to each Micro SD card each time I wanted to use a new one? Hard question to answer but i'm really debating

I personally went for a 256GB one and I'm already glad i did, some games can get pretty big and there are a lot of new games/updates/DLC on the way. You can copy the content from one SD to another but it's not just 1 folder and I don't exactly know the process, but i tried it with the entire content of 1 SD to another and that worked fine.

I highly recommend getting a card from https://www.amazon.com/shop/skullator , he tested different types of SD cards and these are the best and cheapest on Amazon

Ok so planning on starting all this. But ofcourse first want to make full backup of the switch. Problem is my switch does not have exfat. And to install exfat it's advised to use ChoiDujourNX. Which at that point we are already running reinx. So I will have to use https://gbatemp.net/threads/backup-...-your-biskeys-tseckeys-keys-txt-guide.513386/

But I read that the parts can be corrupt. So this isn't 100% safe I gues?

So What if I first did that way to backup. Then use the choidujournx to add exfat support. And after that make a second nand etc backup? Is this a good method.

Or would the second nand backup be useless because I already used the exploit and choidujournx at that point?

Also can I fysically format and SD card of 200gb to fat32? Or will I need to use an old SD card of 32gb or bigger?

The exfat support is part of Nintendo's official update, which means it's safe. The problem with exfat is that Nintendo lazily made the driver, this means that it might 'corrupt' your SD card, which means the folders/files can dissapear/get shuffled around during writing. It can NOT corrupt your switch, just your SD card, but that can be fixed by a format and everything is fine.

I'm not sure about the second backup, but just make sure your first NAND backup is fine and clean.

I don't understand your last question, an SD card can be either formatted to fat32 or exfat if that's what you mean.

I explained myself kinda wrong. I meant to say that it's possible to just do system backup with fat32 using this guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/backup-...-your-biskeys-tseckeys-keys-txt-guide.513386/

But that this will lead to your backup being splitted. Which you have to merge again to one file. And this methods leads to more change of a bad backup.

This leads to my follow up question on this:

So What if I first did that way to backup (fat32) formatted sd. Then use the choidujournx to add exfat support. And after that make a second nand etc backup using (exfat)? Is this a good method?

Or would the second nand backup be useless because I already used the exploit and choidujournx at that point?

In terms of restoring your Switch, you can use the second backup. In terms of remaining under the radar, probably not. In theory Nintendo can see you have a driver that's not supposed to be on a firmware you are currently on and Choidujour may leave traces.

Having a split backup doesn't increase the chance of a failed NAND dump though
