Kinda interesting that some TX users agree its a bribe, yet not a single anti-TX user agrees its just business.

Paying someone to make code, but allowing code to be open source doesn't violate the GPL3. It would have been perfectly legal for the SX team to pay him for his work, so long as they respected the GPL3 and no one would have cared. Hell he even has open donations, something they could have used. It's the fact that they tried to go around the GPL3 requirement that became an issue and the fact that they were going to pay him to violate the GPL3 to give them an unfair advantage that was an issue. You are avoiding the real issues here.

I just can't stop to wonder what would have happenend if in the beginning somebody asked TX nicely for its GPL sources.

I'm doubtful about that happening or them doing that.

When hexkyz figured it out, there was a specific easter egg from nx-hbloader (a project under an ARR license) in the code, although slightly obfuscated.

They tried to hide this easter egg in a later update.

I'm not avoiding any issues, I responded to a pretty specific point about straw men. The rest didn't interest me enough to get involved with other than the odd casual observation. Well honestly your examples weren't straw men. A straw man fallacy is intentionally misinterpreting an argument and creating a counter argument that is easier to breakdown. If I say, "SXOS violates the GPL3," and someone replies with, "Well they released the compiled code first!" That would be a straw man argument. Your examples weren't straw man arguments. I'm sorry if I can aggressive when dealing with this kind of topic.

This would have really helped me when i was studying for a logics exams. And my written examples would have confused the hell out of him "sx violates gpl3" .

My argument wasnt about GPL, just the bit about why a locked down RetroArch would be bad.

1. To me it's clear cut and dry, there's just a bunch of people trying to muddy the waters that are trying to counterargue bullshit.
2. It's technically one update. The other is bugfixes to their hastily released updates. What do you want me to say about it? I've already discussed why their emuNAND is bollocks, so no need to reirgutate that, since it leads to nothing. Their cheat engine is original work (gosh, seems there is some skill amongst their team) so what do you want me to say about that? I just don't see the need since there is already a FOSS option that takes an approach I'm more used to (works like CE/scanmem in that you just search for memory values and modify those).

You seem to have mistaken me for someone that actually gives a shit about those points you made... I personally don’t care which cfw is best or what TX did or didn’t steal or wether they bribed someone or not. SX OS works for me and that’s all that matters in my eyes. At first yes I cared but this scene is sooooo full of drama I gave up and now just read the shit storms that occur with every move TX makes. It’s honestly better than TV some nights! Keep up the pointless bullshit peeps, I’ve got plenty of popcorn.

But it wouldn't respect gpl3.0 because they ask him to take it down. That's part of the exclusive aspect.
