Alright, so about a week ago I bought a switch at Walmart, and according to the serial thread my switch is unpatched (my serial starts with XAW1006). It came with firmware 4.1.0 and I haven't done anything to it other than set up 90DNS to block updates. Now, in my foolish excitement I bought something online from the eshop only to realize that:
A. I can't download it because the eshop won't work on the switch without updating.
B. The game I bought has a minimum firmware requirement of 5.0.0 or higher, so even if I could use the eshop I can't play the game without updating.
Since I eventually want to put Atmosphère on my switch, I want to keep my switch able to use 4.1.0. From what I understand, ChoiDujourNX can upgrade your firmware without burning fuses, meaning I could theoretically upgrade to the latest firmware, play my eshop games and downgrade later when Atmosphère is released. I know you have to boot tethered this way but I've ordered a portable payload injector (the NS-Atmosphere) so that won't be an issue.
Now, all of that seems fine, but I still have a few questions:
1. Since ChoiDujourNX is a homwbrew app, so I'm going to have to get homebrew on my switch to use it. What's the easiest/cleanest way to do that?
2. How do I back up my unmodified 4.1.0 image before I install cfw so I can restore my switch to factory later?
3. I only want stock 6.0.1 Horizon without burning fuses, and I'll only be playing games I have legally purchased, so is it safe to go online using stock firmware installed by ChoiDujourNX or is it detectable by Nintendo and likely to get me banned?
4. Since I have to have some sort of cfw to get homebrew working to use ChoiDujourNX, how do I get rid of that after I update the firmware? Does it even work like that?
5. How do I undo AutoRCM and return the switch to its 4.1.0 state like it came from the factory?
