TX Announces SX OS v2.1 with 'Cheat Engine & Finder'

Plus TX announces a new STABLE v2.0.1 'bugfix' Release!
SXOS21.jpg

Recently, Team-Xecuter has been getting alot of 'hate' over their many SX OS 'releases', some of which were well 'not so perfect' as such, moving forward the team has decided to be like Microsoft to have two branches of SX OS, one a 'stable' release and another for those that love to play around with latest & greatest even if it means 'some issues and headaches' to deal with, so check out below their official announcement and you will notice right away that their 'BETA' branch of SX OS v2.1 contains a game 'cheat engine & finder' system, one of most requested features, of course remember this is currently only in the 'BETA', for those that just want to enjoy their games without problems they also released a 'stable' v2.0.1 release, with thanks to all those that were kind of enough to report feedback from their earlier v2.0 release over the last couple of weeks. :)

We received a lot of feedback after the release of SX OS v2.0.

Today, we are back with *two* new versions of SX OS. Huh? Two new versions? Yes, you read that right.

As of today, we will be distributing two versions of SX OS. One is the "stable" release which has been extensively stress-tested and the other is the optional "beta" version of SX OS which comes with new functionality that needs to go through a thorough acceptation phase before it will be rebranded as the current stable version.

We got a lot of feedback from people who didn't like us bumping the version number of SX OS so often for small fixes, and they are right. 99% of our end-users should not be bothered with small (but important) fixes but would rather enjoy a properly vetted build of SX OS.

With the introduction of the beta channel we hope to address this and introduce new exciting functionality sooner rather than later.

— What's new in SX OS 2.0.1?
  • Stability improvements
  • Introduction of optional beta updates available through OTA updater
— What's new in SX OS v2.1 BETA?

SX OS v2.1 beta introduces our brand new cheat engine and cheat finder. Many people requested a way to cheat in games or aid in finding cheats for games, so it has been high up on the priority list for a while. We're curious to hear your feedback about this initial version of our game cheat addition to SX OS.

As of now we don't have a big library of game cheats available yet, but we hope the community will come up with some cool ones that they will share publicly. Finding cheats and making (reliable) cheat codes for Switch games can be a laborious task and is in certain aspects a bit more involved than finding cheats for, say, a classic gameboy game!

For that reason we have written a small reference guide [HERE] for the aspiring cheat hackers out there detailing the format of our cheat codes, caveats that need to be accounted for, and small tips to bring you up to speed.

— Closing words

Go update your SX OS to v2.0.1 now by downloading the latest version from our website or using the online updater in SX OS itself. If you're feeling adventurous, give the v2.1 beta a shot, which is also available to you through the online updater in SX OS.

That's it for today. Enjoy!

--< Team-Xecuter - Rocking the Switch in 2018 and beyond! >--
Enjoy! -- And remember your 'valued user feedback' for those that are switching over to BETA to cheat away in their games, will be greatly welcome so that the team can improve this new feature with more to come! :)

The cheat finder worked for me on exfat, it's very different from what i expected.
First you select signed or unsigned (8/16/32/64 bit) then it dump the whole memory on a file, then after it finished, you press next search to search for the exact value you wants in hex value.
Why not just just start the search and dumping for value and the type just like gateway?

maybe 3DS memory regions are fixed for each game and NS memory regions are different on almost every boot, that's why it needs to dump all the memory regions first
maybe, it is possible to search without dumping all memory regions first like NSwitchDebugger, you could try to request this feature over at the TX forum

NSwitchDebugger worked good on rajNX, but the switch freeze when i save, NSwitchDebugger is better and way faster then TX code.
i am sure they looked at NSwitchDebugger, but they couldn't find the open source for it, and because it's also from china they couldn't copy it?

TX wants people to give them feedback on their cheat engine, so if you want them to know what features or improvements to add for future updates, it is best to post your thoughts at the TX forum

Ok guys I installed the emunand and all seems to work fine, also played online (of course with ofw)
Tbh I haven't done that unlink thing, I'm scared to lose my game saves data...

Btw how do we update nsp games since we can't connect on Nintendo servers anymore? For example the game Dust Elysian Tail it says there is an update but can't find the nsp of it online, or maybe there is a site that have them if so can you pm me?

For an action replay to make sense it would have to work on at least every system before release, on every firmware (a thing which did not exist on older systems), on at least every game made prior to launch (and ideally on ones after, also updates to games), probably stealth to avoid bans and still be vaguely user friendly, possibly also not face competition from general homebrew.

This would mean they have to basically become a hacking team dealing with firmware updates, console revisions and more. A lot of effort.
Oh I was assuming they'd do it like on the 3DS and just have you insert your cartridge and manipulate your save file with cheat codes that way. I guess the real problem is that Nintendo made save files off-cartridge for Switch...

So, how is the EmuNAND working out? I know the NAND vs SD issue but other than that Is the update working well? I have a 3.0.1 switch, I want to go current temporarily. Does the EmuNAND burn fuses? Is the EmuNAND easily removal? My switch hasn't been online since 3.0 was current. I am not too worried about online access at the moment. I just want Atmo EmuNAND/warm boot and what not. I am happy with SX OS except I don't think it protects the Cartridge Slot fuse. So I can't update. I don't want to switch to Rei, Raj or anything because I like the XCI ease of use. Besides, last I tried it Hekate's NOGC patch made the switch too slow. Does this release protect the Game Cart Slot fuse?

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.
