Nothing illegal about rebranding it, as long as they follow the license. Which means it would still need to be open source, and no doubt if it only worked on their hardware it wouldn't take people long to patch that out. But I'm guessing TX wouldn't be too happy about that.

Rarely ever do I say something like this, but don't engage with that user. Keep to the topic on hand and just ignore him, please. He only comments to get a reaction, then derails the thread until the comments are either removed or the thread is locked. He did this all the time in the 3DS section whenever users even remotely said anything negative about Gateway and he's doing it here in the Switch section for the SX team.

I'd be interested in the supposed timeline for GaryOpa's claims. I personally don't recall a time when the end goal was anything other than upstreaming RetroNX (and I've got logs to prove that). I also love how Gary's deflection is to say m4x got a "better offer" when he has done and continues to do this basically for fun. Libretro themselves have made it clear there was no "offer" and that they couldn't afford to give one even if there was. I swear every SX license comes with an instruction manual on how to move goal posts and obfuscate critical thought. How is it people will believe the dev of one of the most useful and critical pieces of homebrew software in the entire community wasted his time trying to "blackmail" a company for peanuts?


Edit: Also people need to keep in mind m4x is in software development for a living. He knows precisely how much his time is worth and he's sunk far more than $6k of hours into this FREE AND OPEN SOURCE project. It may seem like a lot of money, but it pales in comparison to a fair wage for the amount of work put into it.
