I bet Tx was thinking they were going to win the homebrew bounty with their “emunand”.

They thought if they made it first that everyone would jump on SX OS but na as everyone already discovered their “emunand” is hot garbage

TX will not win a bounty they are sponsoring lmao. They are contributing financially to it themselves.

Well, me as a sx pro user i think this should be sticky, as a warning to as much people as possible to not rush into trying the emunand feature, as it would just bring a banwave between the people, they should know the facts, and team xecuter should take down their 2.0 update until they make a real deal emunand, and the 2.0 update thread should be deleted too.

Total NAND size reported still 32gb because SXOS spoof it and return original size to the telemetry.

No they don't. The Nand size Ninty can do while in OFW will be a definite ban.

TX? Make something original? THAT WILL BE THE DAY! But yeah this discussion is also happening on the actual announcement thread so that's two threads of warnings

They can't win without it being open sourced and this time around Nintendo has too many checks in place so no matter who makes emunand it's useless outside of for people testing their programs which could screw up a real nand. It's not like 3ds days and even in those days emunand became a waste of space. If you back up your nand you are basically brick safe and fuses or not are essentially irrelevant. This is likely why no other group has even bothered with it.

Ok, so now you need to prove why it's dangerous. I don't know why I expect anything more than conjecture from a scene obsessed with memes more than R&D, but c'mon. Capture the telemetry sent, and do more than "B-B-BUT, IT COULD HAPPEN!", because this thread sounds like a bunch of Win10 wingnuts.

The problem is that resizing a system partition is a delicate operation. If you lose power during the resize (or if anything else goes wrong) you'll end up with corruption.
Will this method work, yes. Is it a good method, no. I have no horse in this race, I'm happy that SX are releasing new stuff for the scene.
Unfortunately though this is a cheap hack. I would avoid.

...and team xecuter should take down their 2.0 update until they make a real deal emunand, and the 2.0 update thread should be deleted too.
With the backlash on gbatemp im pretty sure that will happen. How they could release this (and the 1.8/1.9 debacle) makes me not want to rush out and update to the latest release untill it has a good couple of days of user exp.

And also as a paid sx pro user I'm glad to see other users speaking up when things don't seem right.

Why isn't the emunand on the sd card? They mentioned the 3ds a lot and located the emunand on the nand?
It's most likely due to Nintendo's buggy ExFat driver. Ideally they should take this update down because this EmuNand is actually an even bigger ban risk than anything before it (ironically, the opposite of what EmuNand is supposed to do).

Prove it. Please. Again, I request that someone do a proper analysis.

Sure, let's go down the garden path shall we?

For a start:

Initial analysis from CTCaer:

Secondly (and linked to CTCaer's comment) since 3.0.1 - the Telemetry "NandTotalSize" was added and can be called at any time (according to the SwitchBrew wiki).

Now what happens when you go into OFW for whatever reason? Oh the Telemetry is called and reported back that it's "different" - thus a very easy ban. It's akin to walking about with a large, neon target on your back.

If you don't like that simple description - you are free to do a "proper analysis" yourself. After all, you're the one wanting it done - so you should be more than capable to set the ball rolling! :)

I will never understand how people find so much to bicker about here.
How upset can you really be when other people are helping your already cool gadget do even cooler things?!
If helping you getting banned is a good thing, sure.
And their not helping. It's their job. That's a big difference.
They would be helping if they went open source.

So helping you get banned more easily AND making it easier to brick your system is a good thing? Sure, why not

That's not an analysis, that's a screenshot not detailing shit.

How do you know? Again, nobody has taken a look at the actual telemetry. Whether or not this is collected hasn't been proven, because again, you all ride the coattails of spoon feeders. Grab a PCAP for fuck's sake. Show us this will actually happen.

I don't own a Switch, so therefore, no, I can't. And what you're proving to me is that you'd believe that the sky is green if somebody told you it was.

How? All Nintendo would have to do is check the partition table of the SD and ban accordingly. I reiterate, this thread is retarded and serves no purpose other than to spread conjecture. You all sit around shoveling down garbage from Discord and other cesspools teeming with kids that know nothing, and you never do your own research because you got some other retard spoon feeding you said garbage.
You can partition an SD card on a computer. Imagine the outrage if simply a partitioned SD card banned people. True, it's probably not common for the end user to do, but it's still something someone without any intent to hack or bypass security could do.
