Can someone explain me what switchme modchip does? Is like autorcm ? U dont need to tether anymore?
Update your firmware to 5.1 (currently the best one for CFW & homebrew) without burning fuses using ChoiDujourNX. This way you can enjoy hacking and exFAT while being able to downgrade at any time. Bear in mind this will install AutoRCM to prevent accidental burning of fuses.I have a second Switch from launch at firmware 1.0.0. What's a good place to start if I want to use homebrew on it? I've heard that I should most likely back up the NAND, but firmware 1.0.0 doesn't support exFAT until I update the Switch to a higher firmware that enables the support. But the thing is, I don't want to burn efuses and would like to get the chance to restore NAND back to firmware 1.0 if I want to.
It sends payloads without the need for being tethered to an external device. Combining it with AutoRCM simulates untethered coldboot. Can someone explain me what switchme modchip does? Is like autorcm ? U dont need to tether anymore?
Do not dock the Switch when using homebrew.in sx os (latest) i get Error Code 2345-0021 when booting into album while docked.
Is there any way to fix this or should i do all my homebrew stuff undocked?

Make sure you select the exFAT option after choosing the 5.1 firmware (which needs to be downloaded separately). Bear in mind this will install AutoRCM to prevent accidental burning of fuses but you can ignore this if your current fuse count is 6.Ok so i finally have a hackable switch and i just purchased my jig. Should be here in 2 days.
Quick question. Im currently on 5.0.1. As i look through the tutorials it says to get the exfat update i need to download it. However now with 6.0 out everyone is saying don't download. Would i still be able to install cfw without this exfat update? Or is there any way i can install it without going to 6.0? I currently don't have any game carts.

My advice doesn't change; ChoiDujourNX can give you exFAT on all firmware except 1.0I typed the numbers wrong sorry. It's already on 5.1.0

If you updated officially, that means you burnt fuses and when you restore your backup, your console will only boot up in RCM. If you updated with ChoiDujour/ChoiDujourNX, then you don't have to make a new backup but it is recommended.Okay so I have a nand, boot0 and boot1 backup of my switch on 5.1.0 but it's on 6.0 now. Do I have to backup it again?

I don't know of any homebrew that work while docked. There may one or some that work but I am not aware of which ones fall under that category. Thanks for the quick reply, so its safe to assume homebrew in docked mode doesnt work (yet) right?
Until all homebrew have been successfully tested on firmware 6.0 (which is not the case), it cannot be declared safe. For example, homebrew .NSP files cannot be installed into SX OS on firmware 6.0is it dangerous install sx os on 6.0 just for homebrew

This thread is really useful thanks to those who answer so many questions at once.
Thanks in Advance
- I read that nintendo can ban you from the e-shop but what if you want to (re-) download / buy games from the e-shop can you log in to the nintendo account on PC and use the official nintendo website while connecting your switch to the internet that you be might able to start the download without accessing the e-shop?
- also If I check a game for updates in the home menu using the plus + or minus - options would that work too?
- For some games in the future it is necessary to update the switch - if I get banned does that mean I can't update anymore only with the cardride of said game?
Yes, that is how we are able to update without burning fuses after all. The same works for booting lower firmwares than the fuse count meaning we can downgrade to any firmware we want. In most scenarios, downgrading is useless if your bypassing the fuse count since you have to use the RCM exploit in order to do so. However, it is useful for loading firmwares that are better supported with CFW. For example, someone struggling loading CFW on firmware 6.0 should just downgrade to a lower firmware such as 5.1 which has better compatibility until 6.0 receives better support.Adding to Draxzelex answer, I can say that I've tested some apps and for example, ReiNX Tookit and NX-Shell seems to work just fine in docked mode, but many others, like PlayerNX, Mystery of Solarus DX etc. crash with that error while you are in docked mode. Hell, even the HomeBrew menu itself can crash with that error in some situations and despite of this. as far as I know, the error is not even related to CFW and HomeBrew which is why it not easy to fix:/
@Draxzelex
I have a question for you by the way. I know that ChoiDujourNX can be used to upgrade/downgrade to any FW, but I've always believed that we were still limited in which FW we could boot because the fuses have to match whatever FW we are booting, right?. Well, the last couple of days I've read comments here and there which suggests that you can boot into any FW using Hekate, because the Custom Bootloader skips the fuse check entirely. is this actually true?
Why not, Switches don't transfer hacked data to each other.Just curious...
If i have 2 nintendo switchs, one is pure original (no cfw), and the other is using sx os...May i play game local multiplayer together with friend, by connecting them both.
The game i want to play is splatoons 2...
