Checkpoint could crash, causing a system log.

Run creport, its a brand new console. It would have zero logs of any kind, so even dreporting after completion would work. Checkpoint swapping saves to a clean console should be absolutely harmless if done correctly.

In the past, they've just returned such systems with no repairs or replacements done. They won't work on systems they've detected (and banned) even if you've offered to pay for a repair.

what about if a legit system is sent in for repairs, and a different system is sent in its place? are those games and saves gone?

They would unlink your account so you could download the games again, but yes the saves would be gone, if they replaced instead of fixed the problem, and you have no say in the matter.

Are you sure there was no logs at all? Like no logs created on initialization? Creport I think might very well increase the chance of bans.

Depends on what they do. I've done several repairs over several consoles and had everything returned (but it was also the same units). But others have gotten back everything wiped.

Unfortunately, yes. While there are some reasons why Nintendo would disable manually unlinking accounts, they've removed the ability to do so.

Didn't they just add manual de-registering (1 per year)? And if you do that, can't you then transfer and 'register' a new primary console? Or am I confused about something here.

Creport doesn't delete old error logs, dreport does. It may be possible the console has hidden pre-emptive error codes, sure, so then we don't use dreport. But creport just alters the destination of *new* error logs, this should be wholly safe in the context of mitigating some checkpoint-potential crash reporting for a save transfer.

You know what? I do remember reading something about a once a year thing but I can't remember what it was for the life of me. I tried looking on Google and got nothing.

I am looking at it on my own account page right now, tells me my main console and provides a "deregister primary" option.

We can't unlink our accounts/users any more, but that has to do with merging a user with the account for a master system scheme to enable game share and ownership verifications.

Ah, OK I just found that bit of information off of their website. The terminology now is no longer linking/unlinking but primary and activation. Although I'm not sure if you can deactivate an account from a banned console or not:unsure:

You can deactivate a console from your Nintendo Account remotely; however, this can only be done once per year.

I know this is completely unrelated to the thread but Nintendo wonders why their console is being hacked it’s because it’s sucks. Now use that as a loose term yes the switch is good games and it is selling well but even their diehard audience is telling that there is an issue any refuse or they are refusing to knowledge it. It frustrates me it honestly does because we are powerless against it. Online isnt going to save switch. They need to think long and hard about what we want and not just when they want to do

This is among the reasons I refuse to pay for online services like Xbox Live or whatever else. They can up and ban you at any time, for any or no reason, and they don't owe you so much as an apology. Insult to injury is probably that they won't bother canceling any auto-renew you may have set up. You also end up losing access to games you paid for, and again, they don't even owe you an apology. This isn't advocacy for piracy, just that companies like Nintendo expect us to pay for a service, that they can take away on a whim, and we, the paying customer, have zero recourse.

If you're superbanned, I don't think sys trans works. You'd have to get a hackable switch and do a quick Checkpoint move then clean up.

Nothing to difficult and Checkpoint should be entirely undetectable for a simple transfer and then clean operation there after.

This is something I have been wanting to do!! I'm worried about getting banned on my new console though.

Is there a guide for doing this somewhere? I have a brand new console and want to get my legit game saves transferred to it ASAP

There's always a price to pay - if you hack or pirate games: know what you're getting into, don't complaint when you are banned. We were all given a choice, no one told us to install CFW into the Switch. Since we chose to do it, we know what's waiting for us... the best we can do is delay that eventual ban. Personally, I don't care if I am banned even though I am not, but if you do - then think very carefully before using CFW or running Homebrew.

I'll most likely keep this system stock. I don't have much linked to it, but I'd prefer to have one stock system and maybe use a second as my exploitable one. I'll have to wait 'til they come down in price, considering I don't have the money for more than one at the moment. :) what worries me most is the saves, like are saves linked to the account or the console or both. that's where I get confused. I mean I can't use cloud saves from one console, then transfer them to a second console if Nintendo does in fact unlink systems?

You're not faking a certificate. First, you're never getting their key to generate a certificate, second, the certificate has to be valid on their end for it to be accepted and they will only be validated if they create it themselves.

Buy a second console.

Good to know I was courious :) But if it is on partition maybe this some day possible to flash partition as was stated for example from broken switch. PS3 certs is present on EBAY for about 10 euros so maybe it will be possible.
Even if for example buy broken switch but not banned and extract partition and reflash it to another Switch.

Always cheaper than new switch.

And I am not banned - still waiting to update to 6.0 and never used CFW.

I think there is more to these bans than they are actually letting on let’s take the op for example he says he got banned basically for turning his switch on with ReiNX cfw it “crashed” and nothing more, personally I think that’s cobblers!

Have you noticed the way he mentions it crashed on him in other words he’s saying the crash caused the error that got him banned blaming ReiNX! but that’s crap.. He’s a newbie as well to boot like all these other irrelevant stupid bans that keep popping up on gbatemp! I tend not to believe them. Has anyone actually stopped and thought for a moment maybe a lot of these so called bans are not even true!

Look into creport and the basics of CheckPoint. On a completely clean console (do not let it connect online before doing everything), you should be fine to transfer the saves with creport dumping any potential errors from CheckPoint to the SD card, move your saves, and then reformat/wipe your SD card.
