I have backed up my NAND and obtained my keys on a brand new Switch with 4.1.0 that has never been connected to the internet. I am trying to update to 5.1 and am having a issue.....am following a video guide from sthetix on Youtube and for some reason my Switch is not rebooting to the home menu right away after I choose custom firmware. I followed along and applied the files he mentions to the SD card etc....getting close (= Does anyone have a guide by any chance to get this done? Thank you very much for any help in advance.

I agree that Dragon Injector is the best and am excited but it is still under development and has not shipped. A very talented member is working on it in his spare time but he has other obligations like his day job. If you need one right now the NS-Atmosphere gets good reviews but all of them seem to get the job done. In a month I will be taking some long plane trips so will likely pick up the cheapest I can find for now as I don’t want to haul my laptop on pleasure trips.

Thanks, Dragon looks nice but I’ll settle on the NS since I’m keen to get started ASAP.

I did see some on alibaba which were half the price but I think they used supercaps.

I would advise against not following YouTube videos; they get outdated almost immediately and may leave out important details that can lead to more serious issues down the road. For a guide on how to update to 5.1 using ChoiDujourNX, I recommend following this tutorial.

Thank you. When following the guide and launching the option for custom FW my Switch takes about 30 seconds then reboots. I tried holding down R and going to the album but no luck. Not sure what could be going wrong.

*** EDIT*** Also this is after I placed the SD card files onto the SD card and booted Hekate and chose custom FW.....it runs through a couple lines in white and yellow real quick and then a final green line.....then takes about 20 seconds or so and my Nintendo logo comes up and it brings me to the Switch home screen. A prompt then appear that says to update now or later for EXFat if I am not mistaken, have to double check...if I check the album holding R I am not able to bring anything up. Any help to get me safely updated to 5.1 without burning fuses would be MUCH appreciated!

I haven't got ReinX on my switch yet...

I was wondering if I could DL Fortnite for Switch but:

1) Will My Switch automatically download latest updates if I do so?

2) Can I download and play Fortnite without updating from v2.1 -> 6.X or whatever it's at now

It's unlikely but just wondering, I should most likely just avoid playing fortnite as it has online and it will be impossible to play that on switch after getting ReinX due to the risk of being banned

You are using an exFAT formatted SD card to run ChoiDujourNX which makes no sense; you are supposed to use ChoiDujourNX to get exFAT before you use an exFAT formatted SD card not after. If you don't have the exFAT update, you can't use an exFAT formatted SD card to get the exFAT update with ChoiDujourNX. You have to use an SD card which is formatted to FAT32.

  1. If it is connected to the Internet without a DNS server setup to block updates, they will be downloaded automatically (but not installed automatically)
  2. Fornite requires a firmware of at least 5.0 in order to run

Does anyone happen to know what the value of this SMD component is or are able to test it? Thanks

Draxzelex thank you and good looking out. I reformatted to Fat32 and was able to update to 5.1 through ChoiDujourNX.nro

One quick question, if I were to want to shut auto RCM off would that be done through the SX OS?

NM ----> I saw it can be done in Hekate under tools.

Do you recommend auto RCM on?

I am wondering if I should now back up my SD card and reformat to exFAT?

Also can I keep the system docked and just leave it in sleep mode etc when not in use until I decide to use a payload dongle later? Thanks for all the help! I still need to figure out a couple things but so far so good!

*** EDIT *** I saw this on a different tutorial and was wondering if it is needed or if I should do it?

Blocking Updates & Telemetry with 90DNS

  1. Set 'Primary DNS' to '163.172.141.219'
  2. Set 'Secondary DNS' to '45.248.48.62'
  3. Save and perform the connection test

I just downloaded Tinfoil Master and Edizon Master files from Github, put them on both the root of my Switch SD and in the Switch Folder. Both times when booting up my home-brew on SXOS in the photo album,I cant see an install option for either.
Am I missing something?

Master files need to be compiled. You need the compiled .nro version placed inside your switch folder for homebrew apps.
These links are to the compiled versions.

can i get banned by an ip that a hacked switch used switches are very exensive in Greece 400$!!
Highly unlikely that Nintendo tracks IP addresses and bans users accordingly.

  • I only recommend AutoRCM if you know how to deal with it although I personally use it since I have a paperclip
  • Once your console gets exFAT support, you can format your SD card back to exFAT but beware of corruption which is currently unavoidable. If you don't want your SD card to become corrupted, use FAT32 instead
  • 90DNS prevents you from getting banned

I have no idea what the fuck Im doing wrong. Ive put the downloaded files on the root of the SD card and into the Switch folder, and I still cant get it to show up on the home-brew installer within the photo album :/

Make sure that hbmenu.nro is on the root of your SD card and there is a folder titled 010000000000100D inside another folder named titles. Oh and if your SD card is formatted as exFAT but your console doesn't support exFAT, you need to format it to FAT32.

Awesome and thanks again man....MUCH appreciated! I have a paperclip right now but ordered the Atmosphere dongle and built in jig last night. I did not mind the design and won't get too caught up in all the different ones etc as it looks like it should be able to handle everything I am doing at the moment.

Quick question: Should sleep mode be cool for now if I have auto RCM enabled...meaning when not in use I can just dock it and charge it in sleep mode etc then wake it up when I want to use it? I was thinking I can have a easier time getting into RCM mode when the Atmosphere arrives and can then shut off auto RCM so I can just completely shut the system off when not in use, rejig when I want to use it etc.

THANK YOU AGAIN and I seriously appreciate the quick responses and help!

Sleep mode is recommended if you don't wish to turn off your console, with or without AutoRCM. Its very efficient with this console. I don't know what the exact battery drain is but its somewhere around 1% an hour.

Make sure that hbmenu.nro is on the root of your SD card and there is a folder titled 010000000000100D inside another folder named titles. Oh and if your SD card is formatted as exFAT but your console doesn't support exFAT, you need to format it to FAT32.

So the titles folder is within one on the root called Atmosphere. Im pretty sure we formatted it to that:/

Atmosphere doesn't use that folder to load the hbmenu; only ReiNX does. For Atmosphere, I'd recommend downloading either RajNX or tomGER's SD files and extracting them to your root.

Hello!

Just a few questions about the hack.

I did search a few hours last week but i don't find all the answers i need.

So here i give it a try:

I have a Switch never activated online and still in the box running fw 2.30.
One week ago i did received the dongle Ns-atmosphere payload injector from alieexpress.

Do i need to have a higher firmware for play the latest games (ex. games running on 4.01 possible to use on 2.30?)

If yes how i need to update it, online or download some FW on the net? - Means i need to simple update to the latest FW? (some problems if update to it?)

In the beginning of the hack they advice me to buy the Pokemon game with FW 3.00 and have it. (i need to use it?)

Where i can find for my FW 2.30 some Tuto/guide to follow safe and easy the way to hack my Switch with all possibilities?

I hope you can help me a little in the right way because is a lot of information and i mix many things together.
Really don't want to brick the switch or do some bad things.

Thanks a lot!!

For a switch that will never go online is there an easy way to tell if a game needs an update or not? Some kind of online wiki or database that tracks game updates? Or just a matter of manually searching every now and then?

Yes, you need to update your firmware to play newer games. I highly recommend updating with ChoiDujourNX so you can downgrade at any time. For firmware files, they can be located by following the instructions on the xbins website (note: the firmware files are not directly hosted there, you need to use an FTP client to download them from xbins). Those cannot be linked to any reputable site because they are considered copyrighted content and sharing them will get anyone involved in trouble so please do not ask me or anyone else for them. The best firmware for CFW/homebrew is currently 5.1; some things do not quite work on firmware 6.0 so it is not recommended to update to it if you want all of your hacks working perfectly.
