i heard a rumour that the new games will require the new Firware coming out tommorow, will these new games still work with SX OS

As per Team Executer v1.9 is 6.0FW ready.

Wysłane z mojego Redmi Note 4 przy użyciu Tapatalka

cheers in that case is it possible to update firmware without taking my switch online
Yes, with the homebrew ChoiDujourNX you can install the system updates (you have to download the update files from other websites just like you do with tinfoil and .NSP)

Not sure if OP or everyone else misinterpreted the question. Games that require firmware 6.0 keys =/= SX OS working on firmware 6.0. No game has come out needing these but its possible that SX OS may not work with them when they come out. Even if they don't work however, the nature of the exploit allows TX (as well as the community) to patch their work so the games will work but right now, the correct answer to what I believe OP is asking we do not know if those games will work on SX OS or not at this time.

You're asking two different questions. No, SX OS is not future proof. When they inevitably abandon the project, the software will stop working with newer Switch firmware iterations. As for it working on 6.0, yes it does... To an extent. Some features have been disabled, such as Layered FS. They're waiting on Atmosphere to release a fix before copying it and implementing it in their software.

Several years in the future when they decide to "abandon" the project it will be well into the next Nintendo console cycle. By then there will be many alternatives that will exceed the uses of SXOS.

Just like Gateway on the 3DS, right?

I bought 2 gateway cards for the kids when they first came out, Gateway had a good run and I've not updated the s/w since the last gateway update and I think all the games that have come out since then have worked. so gateway have stopped updating along time ago but it's still working ok.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Now run Gateway on a 11.8 emunand with the files on their site.

>Last firmware release: 2016

Oh... :^(

can you name any games since then that dont work ? I think all the ones i've tried have.

There is quite a lot of proof that Team xecutor= gateway. Which they (gateway) dropped the 3ds early.
I'll list some points
TX was bought out by a Chinese company
TX used the same brick code tatic as GW, setting a password on the nand itself.
And gateway copied from the community in the last ditch effort that was gateway armloader9hax, and several other things known within the community.
Which well TX has multiple things that are not works of their own. That are, again, from the community.
This is not a argument on which is better (I don't really want to argue about which is better. It's stupid. And goes no where in the first place) . This is more of potential and even likely situation that the support won't last.

you guys are mad.... SX OS > Other CFW
...Sigh....
  • incognito mode is nothing else but dns blocking.
  • How on earth is something better when it's copied from someone else. Also has to rely on someone else to fix their own problems.
  • Had brick code. Something that is completely disgusting. I don't care if it's to protect from pirates. You don't fucking do that.
  • Uses old homebrew libraries that are not updated
  • None of the work from others is credited. Violates licenses.
  • Includes Nintendo's own code. Which could be a easy sue.
  • Installation of nsps either way are not their own work. Both the nsp installer, and again dev menu.
The only thing they have done original, is a few fs patches for xci loading, and signpatches. Which...

  • Hekate/ (put cfw here) already support signpatches
  • Have updated homebrew libraries, better support
  • Xci installation is possible, throwing them out the window.
And before you say. "But you have to put it on the sd card which takes double the space"
There is a reason there is a network installer.
  • Hekate/atmosphere is modular, allowing users to patch in music, display what they are playing on discord.
  • Hekate blocks the telementry process entirely. As in disabling it. Which is far better.
  • We have custom boot splashes.
  • AND IT'S OPERATED BY THE COMMUNITY.

The only "advantage" That sx os has. Is being able to play XCI's without conversion. Which really, in a world where people have microsd cards of 64gb or 128. It's not much of a deal breaker between SX OS and other cfws. And the biggest flaw sx os has. Is the fact it's reliant on someone elses work. Meaning if something breaks, they have to wait for someone else to fix it, because they can't code for themselves. (not saying they can't code. But I find it unlikely they will)

Does someone here knows if I update to 6.0.0 on Stock firmware from 5.1.0. And then after updating (Burning Fuses) Could I still be able to run a lower version ( Restoring a Nand Backup I made on 5.1) of the firmware using sx os. I know Stock firmware wont boot but what about sx os?

Should. (with hekate. but should apply to sx os) it usually unlocks the efuses, and it ingores them at boot. Allowing older firms to boot.

The real advantage for the SX OS is convenience. People who don't want to spend a few hours familiarizing themselves with the whole process from scratch, but willing to put in a couple dozen dollars to expedite the process, just plug in a dongle and follow a few steps, now that is marketable.
