Hello everyone,

First thing's first, I am aware of this guideline on the xbox live creator program: " Apps that emulate a game system are not allowed on any device family"

But here is the thing. I am noticing a lot of other guidelines that are written, but they do not seem enforced. Like this: "Your app must not contain any content that facilitates or glamorizes the use of weapons against a person, animal, or real or personal property"

Yet, there are games on the creator's program like this one: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/death-goat/9nz2cfll06gr?rtc=1&activetab=pivot:overviewtab

And I am looking at the Microsoft store right now, and I still see ZX spectrum emulator, and C64 emulator.

My question is, is it still impossible to release retrix on the xbox one via the creator's program? Has anyone actually tried?

Source for xbox guidelines: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/windows/agreements/store-policies

Update: There is also an emulator called "Laserdisc game emulator" that is currently available on the windows store that is basically a "dedicated gaming system emulator".

xbrowse has been up for like half the year until absestos took it down but it was going strong for like 5 months i even got the app before it got taken down

how they got away with it is they made it hidden with a webbrowser that you had the press a button combo for it to show the retrix emulator which had added features

I think as long as nobody reports it then Microsoft isn’t going to bother. Some of the more popular systems draw more attention like any of Nintendo’s so once word gets out Microsoft gets wise and pulls them. C64 was never really popular I was the only person I knew who had one in the 80s so I don’t think that’ll draw much attention, but now that you say there is one on there Message me the name for I can download it and hopefully it works but I will not get my hopes up because most games used just the keyboard and not the remotes.

It is called "LaserDisk Game emulator" and it runs fmv games. it is only on pc though

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

But my point is, with this. There is no need to hide the emulator

yea but emulators have always been taken down even tho those other emulators are there i dont see why all of a sudden they would give up after awhile

anyway its possible anyone can put it on the store (if it goes through) you dont need absestos just dont sell it and there wont be a problem

Yea I mean it was only the best selling home computer system of all time, but apart from that...

It's more likely that there's nobody around with enough clout today to actually protect the IP, as the it was spilt off and has been sold several times over since Commodore went bankrupt in 19.... 1994, I think.

Possibly. But I doubt it's owned by anybody with any serious financial clout or who is interested in pursuing action against an emulator.

Idk, maybe I could try hiding an emulator and get it on the store, you get a Microsoft store license by getting a dev license after all

Pull a day of the tentacle make a quick demo rpg in the latest rpg maker where a person goes to an arcade and each machine opens a different emulator.

Honestly, I am not sure if we even need to hide it behind another thing.
If you go for it make sure the developer account you do it under is not tied to any account that you would want to possibly release any legitimate application with.
