then on my computer I got a promt to format something and I did that

Here's how to fix it: You have to restore a nand backup you've made. Yes, it has to be one you have personally made from this Nintendo Switch. That is the ONLY way to repair it at this point, you've deleted some console unique data. If you don't have a nand back up, well, there's a reason it's called a brick.

I know you can't boot an OS (CFW or official) using an exfat sd card without the exfat update, but can I boot into hekate to make an clean nand backup using an exfat sd card without the exfat update?
Hekate is loaded outside of Horizon therefore exFAT support is irrelevant when it comes to using Hekate; it only matters if Hekate supports exFAT or not which it does happen to support.

Another question, I read somewhere that reinx cfw works on all firmware all switch versions is this true that I can just get any switch now or do I still have to use the serial number guide when buying? ty in advance

You must consult the serial number thread because the exploit is based on the Switch's hardware, not firmware; stating firmware is irrelevant when it comes to Switch hacking (unless you're referring to unreleased exploits which are firmware-specific). Also please never ever follow a YouTube video ever again unless specifically told to do so. There are numerous reasons why they should not be used not including to being outdated immediately, extremely difficult to update, and nearly impossible to troubleshoot.

Long Answer: All Firmwares supported and all switches prior to July 2018

Short answer: Check this FAQ

Youtube can be good for some high level visual overviews of the process so you can actually see some of the tools you will be working with but for actual process stick to the txt guides.

Ok first time posting hope this question is in the right spot. Been modding and running cfw on consoles and handhelds for a very long time back to a mod chip psone days that played backups. Anyways on the switch titles running on cfw without a card in the system basically from the memory card. If they have a system update on the title and the game won't play under certain system firmwares. Can we remove that forced update and then play the game?

I remember on the Wii this was a problem when playing backup wii games they'd include the system update inside the iso image and you could rebuild the iso without that forced update . Just wandering if something similar were possible or in the works for switch games. Thanks

You can try the following first:
1. First make sure you cancel the upgrade!
2. Then press the power button and hold for about 5 seconds
3. Choose power off
4. Hold down VOL+ and VOL- and pres simultaneously the power button
5. Choose update but do not update... instead cancel the process!
6. Shut down the console and restart normally

However, when connected to the internet it will soon prompt for update.
If that doesn't work, you can try using the Reset Required Firmware Version from DevMenu. If those 2 options don't work, its possible something else was installed into your console when you installed a .NSP file that is causing your console to detect an available to update. However, we currently do not know what or where this file is so the only solution from this point would be to install the update(s).

How safe is it to play online with your physical games if you've modded your switch to play backups offline?

Hello everyone,

I was going to be visiting a GameStop tomorrow to buy a Switch and was curious if the chances of finding a new one in box that is exploitable are good. I have the list that was posted showing good serial #'s and am simply going to request to look at them before I buy.....as I understand it as long as it is before July 2018 then I should be ok? Thanks for any clarification!

Also just curious if it is acceptable to ask to see the system serials etc before I purchase (=

BigOnYa @ BigOnYa: I played the intro to far cry 5, that is like some crazy Jim Jones cult shit. Still its petty...
