You don't. You need to update to exFAT using ChoidujourNX, it can be done without updating firmware..
Thanks for the reply 877. Maybe I dont get it.

I have a 128gb sd card. My Switch is on 5.1 firmware. The switch can read exFat partitions fine but homebrew cant. If I format my sd card with fat32format then everything runs fine on my switch. Maybe I'm missing a crucial step?

probably a dumb question since I'm getting into the Switch scene late. Would it be safe to assume I could just go to ebay and get a 3.0.0 switch and SX Pro and be good to go? Or is there something else I should be looking for as far as getting a hackable Switch?

Hmm a question occurred to me, SXOS is aprox 16MB, where RajNX is 1.2MB and ReiNX is 0.7Mb (just the downloads from the developers).

How big is the Horizon OFW in comparrison I wonder?

I assumed the CFW "hijacks" the OFW or modifies/patches it on the fly. Is that correct?
I'm actually completely unsure of this and there may be some other devs who work closer with the Switch that can give you a better answer. Although logically speaking, Horizon can be found in the eMMC SYS portion of the NAND dump.

Please check if its exploitable via its serial number by checking it against the ones in this thread.
hi Im usin reinx and tinfoil but I dont know if I can istall dlcs whit it. games and updates work fine.
Tinfoil can install games, updates, DLC, and even custom homebrew NSP files.

@kolosus I seem to remember a similar problem myself, I ended up doing as per this thread.
BUT, I was still having issues.

The best solution which worked for me was launching latest Hekate v4 payload then tools>misc>fix SD files attributes.

Hope this works!

Hi

I just bought a used switch XAJ1 with updated firmware 5.1.

Im really confised about softmodding the switch with all the different types of CFW out there and i would probably have to spend a couple of days trying to understanding about what to do. So I just want some answers here.

From what i understand its possible to jailbreak my version of the switch as it is. I just really want to play games offline. So do i have to jailbreak the switch first and then install reinx or is it just enough to follow a reinx guide and im done? Can i use a 128 gb sd card? Do i have to connect the switch to a computer or do any other stuff every time i turn on the switch? Should i use tinfoil or devmenu, i really dont undertand what they are, but i just need to know which one to use and i can manage to find out more.

Or should i just buy sxos and im good to go with gaming?

I would rather do everything myself with the software avalible out there but i also want the best solution.

I know my questions are noobish as hell but if anybody cares to answer i would be really happy (and my kids)

Looking here looks like you have a good Switch which can be modded.

Don't think of it as a jailbreak, nothing permanent is done (apart from if you choose autorcm). It's more of a patch to the the firmware which lets you run homebrew, install games etc.. Just follow the ReiNX guide for now, check the tutorials page.

Yes 128Gb is fine.

Yes you need to inject payload everytime you power off the switch, via PC and USB cable or dongle. But you can just put it into sleep mode every night and it will be fine waking up from that. Note ejecting sdcard means it will power off.

Use tinfoil latest version for installing nsp files, very stable.

You can buy SXOS if you wish, but ReiNX does almost the same and is currently being improved, and is FREE.

Have a good read and report back if something is confusing!!

If i never goes online, but never made NAND backup, does system format or system restore delete everything in the switch?

It does not. I believe it still retains the error logs so who knows how many other things it retains. It does wipe everything installed such as saves, DLC, and games but those can be removed without a system format.

So they ban me? Anyone tried it?

I believe shinyquagsire may have performed a factory reset on one of his Switches but it still got banned after generating some error codes from running Pegaswitch. But using a system format in the first place doesn't make sense to prevent a ban. Why would Nintendo willingly implement a feature that would prevent a ban?

wasn't shinyquagsire banned because he downloaded from cdn? Did he logged online before he formatted his switch?

Shinyquagsire had multiple Switch units banned, ones that didn't even scrape the CDN.
He eventually explained that the unhacked Switch only did some PegaSwitch very early on in its life but not all of his consoles did any sort of CDN downloading.

Just saw the news that some games won't support the cloud save feature. I've yet to do anything with my switch cause i was waiting for this feature. so i guess cfw and checkpoint/edizon is the way to go for me.

does anybody know where to find a compatibility list for game saves that checkpoint can/can't backup? i think 50 or so pages ago on this very thread i saw somebody mention it doesn't work with Disgaea 5 (one of the games I do have).

Re bans. If I activate my sx os pro online and then immediately make a nand back up will that still potentially lead to a ban if i restore the nand at some point in the future?

Best to check the ban thread.

But if you activated SXOS online then your console might have logged the homebrew running, so you could get banned at any future time in my mind..

I haven't seen a list but I had trouble with BOTW backing up when I was on 4.1.0, Checkpoint would crash in sxos and RajNX. But when I used the latest Hekate v4 it worked perfectly.

Now I updated to 5.1.0 it works perfect with sxos as well.

If I make a nand backup before hacking and go offline, what would be de difference between having used XCI and NSP when I decide to restore my nand backup and connect again?

Thanks, that's what I was worried about. I assume activating it offline would remedy this?

@Draxzelex would be the one to ask, he/she created the ban thread. But I think even offline the console logs the homebrew, backup restores etc. The log files seem to remain even after a nand restore (from what I have recently read). So if you have ever run homebrew, even offline, you can get banned when going online. It's still a bit unclear how it works hence the ban thread to gather more info.

XCI is safer than NSP as nothing gets installed, but either way you are risking a ban it seems. Check the ban thread.
