I could make another recommendation in the SX Gear as it lets you customize the payload in the dongle allowing you to load the CFW of your choosing. Although SX Pro has this option when you boot into the SX OS menu; you can chainload another payload meaning it lets you boot other CFWs if you put their respective payload and files on the SD card.
You mean getting an SX (not Pro, thus saving a few bucks) and use a free CFW?

I just started with Nintendo switch hacking and was happy that my switch is not patched and immediately hacked my Switch. Just want to ask. can I still make a clean back up of my Nand? and what do I do to avoid getting banned? I am currently on airplane mode but Can I go activate the wifi but still not get banned?
Depends on how much you hacked it. If all you did was enter RCM and sent a payload, you may be fine. But if that payload booted into Horizon/CFW, then it may already be tainted. I would highly recommend making a NAND backup ASAP.

That is yet another option you can consider. SX OS by itself is a license that allows you to access the piracy features of their CFW. SX Pro is the license plus a dongle and jig so you don't have to do any extra work finding a jig and/or a device to send payloads with (plus the dongle is convenient for on-the-go hacking). But there are completely free alternatives that can do everything that SX OS/Pro does except for raw .XCI game loading.

what I did was check if my Switch is patched or not by using the biskeydump.bin payload and after checking that it was not patched. I used next the ReiNX payload and installed one game. is my nand already tainted? and how would I Know if it's clean or not?

Ok, well thanks a lot for your help because it was not that easy to understand, I was quite lost with the vocabulary ;) It makes more sense now. Being the lazy guy I am I'll probably get a Pro but I'll definitely check on the other options you mentionned!

Yes because you installed a backup into your NAND. Uninstalling it won't remove all of the traces of it being installed. You can stay offline until more efficient tools for cleaning the NAND come out. But I would still recommend backing up the NAND ASAP as it is more useful for preventing a ban.

damn... I installed though the backup on my SD card does that count that it's still tainted?

SX Pro is the easiest way to hack the Nintendo Switch however there are free ways of accomplishing the same level of hacks. Atmosphere currently uses the same exploit as SX Pro however Atmosphere has plans on supporting other exploits that don't use the one used in SX Pro in the future. Whether or not those will be easier than the current exploit is a subjective debate that we cannot currently discuss as said exploits are private.
In terms of various custom firmware, is Reinx the way to go to play backups? Also Im curious if there are manual updates, when I open my switch Im not sure what firmware its going to have and if I have to update it to a certain point for maximum compatibility.

There are multiple CFWs that can play NSP backups fore free, one of the more popular ones being ReiNX. There also ways to manually update your firmware using homebrew.

To be technically 100% safe, you need to have never connected to the internet after installing NSP AND restore your backup clean NAND.
Thank you for replying :D

So a follow-up question, Am I still safe if I did this in order:
  1. Installed SXOS
  2. Installed AutoRCM
  3. Played XCI Games
  4. Uninstalled AutoRCM
  5. Backuped NAND
  6. Installed NSP games
  7. Uninstalled AutoRCM
  8. Restored backuped NAND

Hi guys,
Just brought my switch few days ago (done a nand backup before sx pro).

May i know if i use ofw online play paladin + sx os pro only play xci games(offline mode+ no nsp).
The chance of being ban is very low right?

Any case ban for this happen before?

AFAIK, making a NAND backup is only useful if you NEVER EVER connect your Switch to the internet after using homebrew, since this will generate a log that can lead you to a ban. But this is just speculation, since we don't know for sure what exactly leads to ban (except instaling XCI games and play them online etc).

A good way to see if you guys are safe (at least for now) is checking the ban spreadsheet on the banning thread and filter to show only reports with cases similar to yours.

Whats the best way to get Checkpoint going without risking getting banned? I'd be working from scratch on 5.1.0. All I need is enough to install Checkpoint, nothing else is necessary.

By making a NAND backup before hacking the console, staying offline with your hacks, then restoring that NAND backup when going online whatsoever.

Wanted to get an answer to this just to be 100% sure.

I currently have 2 switch systems, one on 5.1.0(online use) and another on 3.0.2(offline use) that I'm in the process of hacking. Am I correct in assuming I could take the joy cons from the 3.0.2 system and pair them up to the 4.1.0 system and be completely fine when I want to pair them back to the 3.0.2 system? I know the joy cons have their own firmware but don't know if once they have been paired to a system with a higher firmware they remember and refuse to pair to a system with a lower firmware.

Thanks for any help!
