I don't understand how to convert my MHG 3DS file into the Switch version.

Everytime I load my MHG 3ds save file, it says invalid save format.

Anyone mind converting it for me? I could post my save file.

Yup. You also need a mhgu save to overwrite (mine is in 1st post)

I dont have a 3ds.
Just remove the extension .rar

Using the save editor.
If you have only MHG you neeg to convert it for X and upgrade to XX. Export your XX (3ds) file to a PC and use the tool.
Just make sure to convert file on the tool and you are good to go.

do you need a hack switch to receive from mhxx coverted mhgu save from 3ds? there won't be 3dsmhxx transfer to switch mhgu directly as i assume the official transfer app can only transfer from 3ds mhgen to switch mhgu

I can only find 3DS xx --> Switch xx but i need Switch xx --> 3DS xx so i can convert it to GU

open your switch save with Dawnshifter's original converter tool
convert it to 3ds using the Convert option at the top

open your switch save with my version of the converter
convert the 3ds save to Switch

if you have special quests it might not work

you need homebrew running on your switch. please look at step 5 in the first post I updated with more details and links

hi, thank you for the effort. so let say mhxx was converted to mhgu file, from what means to transfer to switch mghu? as i assume the path to transfer is from mhg 3ds to mhgu switch.. the mhgu save file can be save in mhg 3ds then transfer normally over to switch mhgu?

mhgu is only on switch, so once you convert MHXX 3ds save with the tool it can be used on your switch. I updated the first post with more clarity. please post your MHG save if you want me to convert it for you

did you try already and it says corrupted? if you have downloaded DLC quests yeah maybe they cant be deleted. dunno how the game handles items too. may be at a loss but you can try other people's saves on here we all made pretty good progress you can pickup from

Yeah dunno why it happens. Before loading save at main menu go to options then change screen brightness to default

Hello!

I wanted to know if I've followed the process for converting a save properly. I'm waiting for a physical copy of MHGU on Tuesday.

I took my Switch save from MHXX and converted it to 3DS using Dawnshifter's original exe. Then, I opened the 3DS save in your modified exe, and converted it to Switch. Didn't encounter any errors, but also didn't see anything to indicate it could be loaded in MHGU.

My question is - when I have the game, should I be able to restore the save using Checkpoint? Or is there something I'm missing?

MH is one of the few things I always buy, so I don't have a copy to try it out with just yet.

It seems that my switch hang when I start the MHGenU game. I didnt even reach the CAPCOM screen and it hanged.

This is what i have done.
1) Use MHXXSaveeditor to load my Switch MHXX saved file.
2) Use MHXXSaveeditor to convert to 3ds
3) Use your MHGenUSaveeditor to load the file that has been converted to 3ds.
4) It detects that its a 3ds file.
5)I choose to convert file to Switch using your empty save file. It says that you are editing a Switch file now but there is a box that keeps saying loading your save file.
I close the box after a few minutes of waiting. Then I save the file.
6) I copy this new system file into my Switch and import it using Checkpoint.
7) When I load the game, it hangs without even reaching the CAPCOM logo. I have to hold ON/OFF button for 12 seconds to power off the switch.

Kindly advice what did i do wrong?

The game transfers the dlc items as dummy items/equipment...gudetama, hxh and usj dun transfer over...the db from the fairytail dlc also has issues...I have been trying to transfer mhxx save directly and not working...But I can manage to transfer the items and equip using the import/export functions
