Hacking Should I update to 11.8?

So here’s the rundown:

I’ve had Luma CFW installed on my 3DS for a couple months and I have 11.7 CFW. I’ve heard that 11.8 will effectively brick your system if you update to it, but here’s my whole thing.
I have zero interest in online games and I don’t even download my games via freeshop; I install all my games, updates, and DLCs using .cia files and FBI. All the games I play are single player and honestly the BIGGEST reason I even installed CFW in the first place was to use VC injections for GBA games. My 3DS is actually offline all the time; I don’t even have it connected to a WiFi at the moment because all the games I play are solely single player.

So, is there even a legitimate reason for me to update to 11.8? Don’t guess any games that I install via CIAs would require a certain system version, would they?

If you don't use Freeshop and you don't play online, then updating to 11.8 should be fine. Future games will probably require it anyways.

Eh I might just stay on 11.7 and continue staying offline. The only couple games I even want are relatively older now anyway.

Do you think it’s still safe to download a seed for a game via FBI though if it requires it? I occasionally have to do that for a small number of games.

playing online is perfectly safe, as long as you do not cheat while online etc, (11.7 online is disabled now)

any form of installing from Nintendo's CDN (freeshop/fbi qr codes/etc) have now been blocked and will no longer work on any firmware so there is no reason not to update

the risks in 11.8 are the same as 11.0 etc, just dont be stupid with what you do online

Now that I think about it though, I DID install the game and seed for Hyrule warriors legends about a week ago, and I did have to go online for a second to get the seed. It worked fine though. Think my method is still okay then?

within the last few days, all fake seeds have been blocked, you can try it, but it will not work, and your system will most likely get flagged

go back to the stone ages, and install via CIA's downloaded from other sources

you can do that, but if you are downloading from the nintendo sources, that wont work

I’m honestly not sure where the source that FBI uses is. I just navigate in the menu to “titles” and then pick “install seed.” It doesn’t say where it downloads from as far as I know. Can anyone confirm if they know?

dont you mean "ticket" and not seed? there is no check for seed as far as i know?

Yeah I’m a bit confused about that part too...I know I’ve seen that tickets are now being checked but I’m not sure if the seeds work the same way.

yeah I mean the ticket, seeds will still work the same, i'm unsure where FBI gets it's seeds as the key site is kinda offline,

Eh I might update then just in case any new games require 11.8

I just have to update Luma using the updater and then update to 11.8 via system settings, right? Never had to do this before. Nothing I have to worry about as far as bricking, right?

the key site isnt dead, its an issue with the dns, there is a topic on cemu reddit to correct the problem on your computer (edit the host file to redirect the url to the existing IP, i cant share it here so you need to search yourself), here you can find the seeddb.bin

Lately, users are already sharing their backups as "Game plus Seed", what should have been done since downloading from CDN started.
