Oh yes, he is known in the scene and trustworthy ... he has done some hardware glitching, times ago on the ps4.

I wonder how the downgrade will work, do we need a kernel exploit to downgrade? Is a dualboot possible with this?

They’re saying that you need to have backed up (something) on low fw prior to have something to downgrade to.

Syscon stores historic data apparently.

If your console has never been on 1.76 is can never go back to a fw it has never been on.

Yeah you could downgrade to the lowest fw you have ever been on, and upgrade to another fw you hadn’t: therefore adding it to syscon history.

With special hardware you can use this maybe as dualboot ... I think you need something to write to syscon (kernel exploit or a hardware glitch/modchip). But I don't know if this is possible.

This won't be possible ... if your ps4 was shipped with 5.07 then you can downgrade minimum to 5.07. So as I understand, with this method you will also need a previous dump of your 5.05 syscon files to go back to 5.05 again.

I maybe wrong but I thought I read 5.05 with code modifications can be used on 5.07 it just hasn't been ported yet and it has been patched out on higher fw

For 5.07 no code modifications are needed but no update packages exist

I think 5.07 was only shipped with a certain sku of Japanese model, so no update pup exists for that reason.
